The Queen Of Hearts Gets A Face Lift

I did this while on vacation this summer. I only had my pens with me, no paint, so I did this Zentangle piece. I came up with the idea while playing a game of cards. It needs to be rephotographed because it doesn't sit squarely.
This Queen Of Hearts face card hasn't changed much over the years and I thought it would be fun to give it a face lift. Something more in keeping with Alice In Wonderland.
The flamingo is obvious, but the dripping red rose may not be. That comes from the part of the story where the gardeners had accidently planted white roses and decided to paint them red so it wouldn't be "Off with their heads!"

I did this all by hand. Even the reversed image. Ya, I know, that is what Photoshop is for, but I enjoyed the challenge. There are variations to each side. (Edit: other than transferring the bones of the image to the reverse side so it would be a fair resemblance and so the lines would match up in the center.)
I plan on doing another one that represents Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty as a queen of clubs or spades. Not sure yet. I'm wondering what you all think?

Also, I usually hide my name in these types of works. If you have an idea of where to hide it, let me know what you think about that. I like to make it a challenge to find my name.

This is awesome Jani! What a great idea...storybook Queens. You could do them all...that would be so cool...the kings and jacks...is there another one? I somehow thought four.

Magnificently imaginative! You should do a whole series, Jani...perhaps even consider a Tarot card series with the same inventive twist.

I love it!

Thank you, Val, there is aces. I was also thinking of redoing the jokers.

Oh, yes, Patrick. It could be a huge series. How 'bout the king with invisible clothes...well, maybe not that one. :-)

Thank you, Melissa. Me too. I have a studio tour coming up and preping for that. Also, I have a commission to work on. Not sure if I'll be able to work on the next one until after that.

I'm impressed! I can never even get two eyes to line up on the same face, and you did it twice! Great job.

Excellent work!

Thank you, April, I transferred some of the bones of the image to the reversed side. Even still, it was quite a challenge. You can see some differences in the eyes, mouth, rose, flamingo, and some of the patterns if you compared both images to each other. I was actually concerned about that at first, but decided that it makes it more interesting to have those differences.

Thank you, Walter.

I'd make a series and contact Hard Rock Casino or other hip joint in Vegas...I also like Patrick's Tarot idea!

Lawrence, that's a great idea, thank you.

Thank you, Linda and Susanne.

Thank you, Marlene. I have ideas for a few of the other face cards:
1. Queen if spades - Maleficent
2. Snow white queen
3. Rapunzel queen
4. The queen of hearts
The kings
1. Little Mermaid under the sea king
2. Cinderella king
3. Rapunzel king
4.
The jacks: storybook heros
1. Hercules
2.
3.
4.
The joker: maybe Smee from Peter Pan

I have a lot of work to do to get these done. These characters would be the inspiration for the new face card images.

Wonderful piece, Jani. I love that you painted the entire canvas rather than using a clone tool. The flamingos and dripping roses are fantastic. The whole piece is fantastic and I agree, would make a great series!

Thank you, Donna. I'm having fun with this. I have an idea of how the others will look, but this style kind of manifests its own look as I draw. I don't even know how they will turn out until they are done.
