Should I Choose A Canvas Or Metal Print?

I'm trying to decide on which type of print to order to replace the art hanging on my fireplace, and would love some input.

Currently, I have a 16x20" framed canvas there. Here's a link to the photo of the fireplace with the art.

I would like to order this print as my husband really loves the scene:

I am having trouble deciding between canvas and the metal. I'm looking at the size 48x12, so it would be wider than the current art, but not quite as long vertically. I've heard many good things about the metal prints, that they have a shimmer and sparkle to them, and I thought with the water in the scene, it might work well to have that added shimmer. As you can see, my room is older and more rustic in nature. I wondered if the metal print would seem too modern for this fireplace? Color-wise, I'm positive the print would work well as it has the greens in it as does the current art (which goes well in the room), and it's a bit brighter, which will be good for this location as it's a dark area of the room (no spotlights on this fireplace and the room is somewhat dark overall).

Has anyone here installed a metal print in with older, more rustic decor, and if so, are you satisfied with it?

Thanks for your input!

I've gone both metal and canvas and think both look great. It's really just what you prefer.

I have metal prints from FAA in my older home. I really like the quality a lot. They are glossy and look fantastic on my walls.

Metal ;) But if you go with canvas, choose the matte finish because to me the glossy would look strange on the canvas only. I have some of the metallic paper that look nice too.

Can't comment on the canvas, but I can on the metal print.
I bough a 30x40 metal print from here and it is stunning - deep rich colors that seem to glow from within. I think your scene would look fantastic. But it is highly reflective so placement and how light hits it would matter.

The only caution is that it actually is darker than the image - I'm not sure if that is the result of printing on metal or some adjustment made by the printer, but I'd check with them beforehand if you go the metal route.

If you don't like it, you can always return it.

I think this image would look great on the Metal.
I've purchased both metal and canvas, but this would really pop on metal.

Order both and if you don't like one or both return for your money back.

I dnot have any metal myself, but when i go to the lab I use they have some displayed. They are so much more vibrant & the color is more rich. It brings out a little more to your photo that a canvas I dont think will capture

The fireplace bricks/stone has a lot of texture I would probably go for the canvas print, glossy or mat because the metal shine I think would compete more than the canvas and with the objects and texture on the mantle. I like the larger size you picked out it will look great!

I like the metal prints - and I would order it that way - I don't think it will make it that much "darker" only 'richer'.

I think the lighting, water, and just the scene in general would look fantastic on metal!

Thanks for the replies and your opinions. Sounds like metal would be a good choice. Suzanne brought up an interesting point about the texture of the fireplace and how it may compete with the metal print. Which made me go look for an alternate location where I could put the print -- just in case it wouldn't do well over the fireplace. I think I will try the metal with this one, based on the feedback. Thanks again,
