Thinking The Same.

Wouldn't it be great if we all had the same thoughts at the same time!

Then I would know what you were thinking.

Ronald Walker

That would be awesome since I would know what you were thinking as well!

Janice Drew

Thinking that would be incredibly boring. :)

Ronald Walker

My thoughts exactly!

Ed Meredith

i was just thinking that... NOT!!

It might be great fun once but i’d rather have my own thoughts thanks… i believe the wisdom of creation is in it’s infinite diversity…

Ronald Walker

I think we all believe that Ed.

Sydne Archambault

But I want your thoughts Ed.....

Ed Meredith

OOH Sydne please for your own sanity and safety reconsider that thought... =>))

Sydne Archambault

Wow I knew you were going to say that Ed!

The prospect of intimately sharing our thoughts with one another is absolutely terrifying, Ronald.

The question you pose infers that a collective hive consciousness could make a quantum leap to a level that would quickly vaporize everyone's sense of individual sovereignty and require the total abandonment of personal privacy; a state of mind in which the lives of human beings would have to be strictly regulated by something akin to George Orwell's, Thought Police.

No thanks!

But think about it Patrick if we collectively all had the same thoughts.....there would be no lawyers, and every day would be Saturday.

Ronald Walker

we would all create the exact same art!

Ed Meredith

We may all be pleased with the art but would we all be happy with the lack of sales...lol

This idyllic reverie for a collectively shared vision, which you describe so affectionately and in such drippingly romanticized tones, is nothing short of a dystopian nightmare.

But, on a lighter note, have you not heard of Sookie Stackhouse?

Sydne Archambault

We would all be happy with lack of sales, and we would ask for critiques and no one would give one, because we would of course just love it. Not to mention we wouldn't need board monitors cause we all have the same position, no rancor. Unless of course we were all in a bad mood.

Ed Meredith

And whose fault would that be? the bad mood that is...

Abbie Shores

We are Borg. You will be assimilated

Isabella F. Abbie Shores nailed it.

(Whew! I'm outta breath just typing your full name, but I haven't forgotten your previous incarnation...remember mine? Patrijk Anton-Piers. LOL!)

Ronald Walker

My exact thoughts! Go figure!!

Sydne Archambault

We would all be at fault at the very same time.

Ed Meredith

But i need someone to BLAME... other than me of course, because i'm ALWAYS in a GOOD MOOD...

Abbie Shores

LOL Patrick... You should try and type out my WHOLE legal name :)

Good to see you back

Good to be back, Isabella!

Ronald Walker

OMG, I just had a thought, but you all knew that.

Marlene Burns

I don't think it would be great...but if we all did, you'd already know that.

The exchange of ideas and yes thoughts are vital to the development of artist and people in general. One of the great things about this site is the free exchange of ideas with people who we most likely would not have the opportunity to meet otherwise. I often find myself in disagreement with other artist on this site and at times participate in verbal jousting. That is how it should be, we are different and have different ideas. I am pro open exchange of conversation in the threads. I am concerned that many are not, am I far off base on this?

I knew that's where this was heading

Chances are someone out there is thinking the same thing. That's the downside of the Internet. Think of something original and then Google it and find out that its already been said/done.

This is what Ronald might have used for the intro to this thread, and I wish he had, because it is positively brilliant:

"The exchange of ideas and yes thoughts are vital to the development of artist and people in general. With the open exchange of ideas, even those that are at odds with others, comes a burgeoning swell of creativity.

Q: What do you think made Pixar Studios' films so wonderfully successful?
A:The collective pooling and exchange of creative thought.

Great discussion, spot-on contribution, Ronald.

I actually have a thought about thought. Thought is an object whose function is to detect change in life, and then reuse the information. It gets a bit more complicated, where sentences contain modifiers as well, and sentences become equations where a social robot should seek to balance out a sentence with too high in a certain quality if it infers that the only change in a sentence of whom all other elements are known. I wonder if thinking is 2-dimensional or not. Maybe if we were in a 5 dimensional universe we'd have more room in our brains.
