Weekly Suggestion For The Week 8-25-2014

Weekly Suggestion For The Week 8-25-2014

This is not an image/artwork posting thread please DO NOT add those here.

Abbie's rules apply....Limit ''ONE'' Suggestion per person per week.
If you add more than that per week it will not be sent in. (Per Abbie's request).

Once a week's thread closes I email Abbie the list. This thread is for her, it is not
my thread. I am just a helper to get the list to her on or about once a week.

Please ''DO NOT'' disrespect the owner (Sean) in this thread. These are Suggestions and NOT Demands.

Running list of things that will ''NOT'' be changing

The ''BIG SKIP'' is staying.

The ''Image Size'' on the the ''Artist Website'' will be not changing.

Replies to other suggestions:

For The Originals option on the uploads just leave that info blank if you do not sell originals.

i really want my long list of images back. i think i'm getting less sales because the images aren't on all on page like they were. its hard to click onto the next screen. buyers may not know it's there, heck even i forget it's there. and some screens may be enlarged so much it cuts that edge off anyway. i want buyers to see i have a huge selection. if they are on a phone they have to click extra buttons. on a pc, no one should have to click next over and over (same with the search). i never liked the artist site because of that multi page format. but now the fineart site has it too, and i would really, really, like to have the long list back again. thanks

I also miss the gallery of art on one page. People have limited time and

seeing it all at once we can make a sale sooner at what jumps out at them.

ADDING DATA TO THE EDIT SCREEN: I would like to group images and add common data on bulk to the grouped images. Eg: adding a copyright statement to the description or common words to the keywords. This facility would greatly improve my Fine Art America workflow.
Many thanks

I would like to see the redundancy removed when we post a link to our AW art. I just posted a link to my fb page, the first time doing it, for a friend that wanted to know the prices of the image I used on my page. I did so and this came up:

Wintery Irish Countryside Photograph by Imagery by Charly - Wintery Irish Countryside Fine Art Prints and Posters for Sale (link to click on)
imageryby-charly.artistwebsites.com

Wintery Irish Countryside Photograph by Imagery by Charly - Wintery Irish Countryside Fine Art Prints and Posters for Sale (this should be the description)

I mean really saying the same thing basically 4 times is over kill and looks unprofessional. 4 times the Title shows up? Geeez... The link should just say "Wintery Irish Countryside by Imager by Charly" and then the description should show below. Not a repeat of the link...

When I use bitly to shorten links, I remove most of what is shown due to the redundancy and I not wishing to insult anyone's intelligence by showing them the same thing more than once.

This would be more appropriate:

Wintery Irish Countryside by Imagery by Charly
imageryby-charly.artistwebsites.com

Cold, misty, wintry Irish countryside at sunrise; landscape purple, orange, magenta

An additional filter when searching for artwork - one that allows to show/hide a given artist/gallery/seller (whatever the proper term would be - I'm going to just say artist going forward).

It's one filter but it could be a positive or negative filter depending on what results the customer wanted to include or exclude.

First the positive side. If I am searching for widgets and I see that Artist A has one that I like but I'd like to see more of their work, I have to click the artwork. Wait for it to load, find the link to their profile. And if I'm lucky it's a subject they have an individual gallery for. If not, I have to spot the search portfolio link and run my original search again.

That's a lot of steps just to see more widgets by the artist whose work I liked. My suggestion is an option beneath the artwork in the search to 'see more by this artist.' In essence an additional filter along with color, medium, etc. that shows me all of the artwork that meets my keyword search by that artist. It would save the customer a lot of clicking and exposes more work of the style they liked (assuming that artist has more of that subject). Either way, it gets it over quickly. They either see that artist has more work they might like or they see that is all there is.

On the negative filter side, if you do any broad searches on the site, like countries or states or even large cities, you'll often find pages of work by the same artist. Which is fine if that fits the bill, but if the customer doesn't like their style, they have to skip pages (and potentially other artist work that was sprinkled among those results) to get past said prolific and popular artist.

it would be so much easier if the customer was in the driver seat. If they have seen several pieces already and it's not a style that fits their vision, they should be able to hide further results from that artist. Ideally, they should be able to hide more than one. I think this would make the search more customer friendly by allowing them to remove results they can already see don't fit what they were looking for. In essence narrowing it down just like picking a color or a medium they prefer. Each removed artist would get them closer to what they were ultimately after.

In either case, it should be made obvious in the search results that they are hiding other work, either by only looking at one artist or by hiding multiple artists.

When a print is made would there be a way to include on the back of it the URL of that image on FAA? If my customer shows an image they purchased to a friend and the friend wants to know how to get one also, they could just look on the back and there it would be. Even better would be a QR code but that's probably asking a bit much. All in all I think it would benefit both the artist and FAA.
