My images
The yearling raced across the prairie. His father had kicked him from the herd the day before and he had to find food and water by himself. Normally his grandmother told the herd the safe places to graze. He was headed to the green pastures they had seen a week before but he was tired and hungry and his flank still hurt from the bruise caused by his fathers bite.
Soon he would have to fight for his own herd. Until then he just had to survive.
The Yearling is an oil painting and is for sale as prints, cards and phone cases
A Gypsy Vanner is an English horse bred to pull gypsy caravans. The Gypsy Vanner is an oil painting and is for sale as prints, cards and phone cases
This is an oil painting of Two horses pulling a carriage with two people in on a lazy, Sunday afternoon. This is also my favourite painting by me :)
Let me see yours :D

This is one of my first copper sculptures, it's aprox. 2' x 3' and is a wall hanger, The sculpture was hand hammered and then heated to give it the distinct colors. I then clear coated it, not some thing I do now. This sculpture I gave to one of my brothers, a horse lover and he has it on his living room wall.

I love the excitement, motion and colors of a horse race and after seeing one more Kentucky Derby was inspired to finally do a painting.
This was a fun pastel that we used as our Christmas card last year. It depicts my hubby, me, our little dog Maggie out for an imaginary sleigh ride.
This is another pastel that was done for the benefit of free roaming horses on public lands in the west. This is one of two paintings for this effort.

Watercolor painting of an American Painted horse galloping through the pasture. this one would make a good cow pony or Barrel racer. the American Painted horse is commonly referred to as a "Paint" , sometimes "Pinto" or Indian/ Native American horses.
Watercolor painting of a Buckskin Horse trotting through the Winter evening light. Feeding time - and headed in for the barn. Red Maple leaves border this painting as it was an early snowfall .

Description:
Justinian the Great, was Byzantine Emperor from 527 to 565. During his reign, Justinian sought to revive the Empire's greatness and re-conquer the lost western half of the classical Roman Empire. Much of the failing portions of the Roman Empire had been Christianized not only the Romanized forms of Christianity but by Monophysitism and Arianism, European and Eastern forms of Christianity. Justinian declared war on all who differed with the non-roman forms that did not quite fit the Confession of Chalcedon. The final Romanization of the Christian Kingdom took place from Justinian's seat in Constantinople. War was declared by those who followed Christ's teachings on those who followed Christ's teachings.
This horrible act entrenched in religion was the inspiration for this long term work in progress called:
Justinian Justice:
The design itself is a derivation of Peter Paul Ruben's Battle of Anghiari, a copy of Leonardo's painting long disintegrated.

I've always loved ALL horses, but have always had a special place in my heart for Arabians. I was thrilled when I met a local woman who owned one and I had the opportunity to go photograph her. She was truly every bit as beautiful as I imagined. And spirited...wow...she was amazing! She took off running back and forth in the pasture - she was definitely a big show off! Here I've paired one of her photos with one of my hand painted chalk textures to truly turn this beauty into the work of art she deserved to be.

This watercolor painting, Painted By The Wind, was originally going to be an urban painting. You can still see remnants of the street from a birds-eye-view in the background. It looks like an outlined 'x'. I converted it to a horse painting because I didn't like the way the previous painting was going. This was a fun one to do and set me on a new path in my painting style. It's a best seller here, has won awards, been on a cover of a magazine and is in a watercolor book, Splash 15.
This version of Determination was painted in water-soluable oils with only a pallet knife. I wanted to challenge myself with this horse image and used a thick and textural application with the paint. It took months to dry completely. The one thing I didn't expect to happen was the stained glass affect the texture gives to this piece.
It seemed fitting to paint the horses with the colors of the American flag considering the title and considering that I am very much a patriot to my country. The horse in the back is Justice because he has his eyes covered. The Greek statue for justice wears a blindfold so she cannot see the bribes being offered to her. This is my version of blind justice. The horse in the foreground represents peace. Peace and justice are side by side and beget freedom and nothing represents the power of freedom like unbridled horses running.

A photo of my mare in motion—well, she’s trotting, anyway:
I took this one at the 2010 World Equestrian Games (the 2014 WEG is currently going on in Normandy, France, as I type)
Another from the 2010 WEG: Edward Gal and Totilas made history by taking the gold in all three dressage events:

While out on the back roads of Kingston Springs TN we came across a nice horse farm. We spotted the owner down at his barn and went and spoke with him for a bit. He let us go inside with the two horses and he introduced us to a baby calf. Down the road a piece we revisited the horses on that farm.

A horse products company, owned in part by a family member, has a large collection of my Mother's (Avonelle Kelsey 1931-2009) in their offices - heavy on the equine paintings. We recently came to an agreement where I could add them on FAA for the world to enjoy. These are three of about 30 horse works now on mom's page. Enjoy!

Luckily I have many horses all around me - here is one of my favorites:
Cowboy on his white horse - A cowboy is an animal herder who tends cattle on ranches in North America, traditionally on horseback, and often performs a multitude of other ranch-related tasks. The historic American cowboy of the late 19th century arose from the vaquero traditions of northern Mexico and became a figure of special significance and legend. A subtype, called a wrangler, specifically tends the horses used to work cattle. In addition to ranch work, some cowboys work for or participate in rodeos.

Here's a few more of mine.
I love fresco paintings or Greco Roman artworks. There is so much beauty in the textures, history and age of those types of art. This is my version of that style.
This painting came out looking very celestial, hence the name. It wasn't until I was researching about celestial bodies for title ideas that I discovered that there is a nebula called Horsehead Nebula; which I found fascinating.

Every October for the past six years, I have gone to Green Mountain, Wyoming with my husband to help set up his elk hunting camp. From the first sight of the wild horses there, I fell in love with watching and photographing them. I will be going to that area again next month and cannot wait to see the horses!

A horse made of nothing but potent energy.
Electricity.
Rearing up to touch the black sky. His wild white mane reaching up as well.
It seems as if he may be trying to attract some lighting. More power for his electrifying body.
This horse has also cleverly decided to stand in a pool of water to generate even more electricity.
Imagine the sparks that will fly when he splashes his mighty hooves back down.
All the hair on your arms will stand up during a bright flash of light.
And then...
It will all be gone, just as quick as it came.
Just like lightning.
I am very new here so please forgive me if my html link doesn't work! Here is the regular link just in case.
