I Need Some Artists To Feature On My Blog That Is Now Up To Almost A Thousand Visitors A Day!

Okay you guys...here is my plea again. I need to have a line up of artists to feature on the blog. It's really growing and is getting a lot of visitors. Every little bit of exposure helps! So, follow the instructions below...

If you would like to be featured you need to send me "ready to upload" stuff. Last time it took me hours to get photos sized, find and copy bios etc. It was very labor intensive. I need it to be simpler. You guys know I'm not the type person who likes to say no to anyone so please be mindful about how you send me your stuff. If I can't easily copy and post what you send, I won't post anything. So, if you want to be featured you need to send me the following:

An email with "featured artist" in the subject line cathyjourdan55@gmail.com
A bio (short or long, your choice)
A head shot of yourself in jpg format and not too big maybe 1000 x 1000 I need to figure out the best as I go
Several examples of your artwork in jpg format
If you have a website, include the website address or your fineartamerica address so people can find you if they like what they see.
If you want your name, address, phone or anything else posted, please include it and TELL me you want it included.
And a quote from you...maybe your philosophy on life or art or both....or just something reflective of who you are.

the webaddress will be: http://featuredartists.weebly.com/

For each person that is featured I hope you will share the link, twitter it, facebook it anything you can to get it spread around. If everyone does this the readership and clicks will grow rapidly.

Oh yes....if you have already emailed me and you did not hear back from me or get a feature done...PLEASE email me again...every now and then an email or two just seems to vanish??? Anyway please try again.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

Cathy, I've been checking out your blog on occasion, I even commented on one of your blog posts. I have seen you posting here in the forum for a while now, I have a suggestion that may help with your blog.

Right now you are using a broadcast approach posting to those who are reading the forum, asking them to "Come join me!". Perhaps as a way of gathering even more participants, you could do something a bit more personal and go artist direct, or direct marketing. Most people want to be acknowledged for what they do or have done, what they have created, and not many will take the appropriate time to market themselves. Also, the number of users on the forum is very small relative to the number of registered members of FAA.

A way of increasing you responses might be to put together an introduction letter, similar to the one you present here on the forum, and contact artists directly through personal messages. Send a intro letter with your pitch that you have looked at their portfolio, and would like to feature them on your art blog. It creates a whole new dynamic, and could possibly work for you. It would be almost the same exact pitch, but more direct. If you take the time to approach people one on one, and you acknowledge their specific artworks, you may be able to increase your participation rate just a little bit.

I know for me, that when people take the time to PM me, I give much more weight to what they have to say.

Do you want the examples of our work in low resolution?

Thank you Yo Pedro....good tips! I also posted a couple of contest the other day to help! I don't know why, but I hadn't thought of that.

I look forward to it Steven.

Ann the resolution is up to you, plus I don't have any problem with posting pics with light watermarks if it makes you feel better.

What size jpegs do you want. I mean, do you want the same images we upload to FAA. Most of my stuff is 3000X4000 so around 12-13 MB. I can just shrink them down to any size by just choosing a lower jpeg compression. When I upload to flickr I usually compress down to maybe 3 MB. Is that more what you are looking for?
Thanks,
Les

It would be beneficial for you to do a highly detailed step by step tutorial blog post of how you want the submissions to your blog to be made. That would give visitors another reason to visit your blog.

I can provide a "head shot" that is my logo (as seen here to the left) that is about 800 x 800 px. I also have web-ready copies of several of my images. They are mostly 750 x 500 px, less than 100K and do have my watermark w/ name and URL. If all of that works for you I can put something together this week. Then I can do a blog post on my own site about what it is that you are doing.

Good idea Yo...where have you been all my life??? I will do a post ...or maybe a page. Thanks.

Bill that sounds fine.

Digital Photographic Arts: Pics less than 2MB is good and I think from there the software will adjust it.
