Did You Get A Request From Linkedin To Change Your Password?

"...recently noticed a potential risk to your LinkedIn account coming from outside LinkedIn and just to be safe, we've locked your account for now. You'll need to reset your password in order to unlock your account."

If you do that don't click the link from inside the email. Open Linked in a separate tab and login like normal ....

So, is it a scam? I don't want to do anything until I know it is legit.

If you got an email that looks like its from LInked ... to the address you have registered in Linked it could be. Linked is very overboard about passwords. But if you login like normal you'll see what the email says ..... or not. That is how you match it up.

I tried to search Linked for your issue and so far nothing the the help forum.

Hey Barbara! Frank is right. DO NOT click or follow the link provided within that email. If it's a scam that's a sure fire way to get compromised. The best thing to do is to go into LinkedIn through your account and see what happens. If you get it then you know it's a scam. If not, you can contact them direct and inquire as to what the problem is. My background is in computer forensics and I can tell you that LinkedIn is not as secure as they claim. Be aware. Hope this helps! :-)

This is the closest I can find, looks like if you cant login to wait 24 hours.

Maybe do a better search from this page:

Thank you gentlemen! I went to LI my usual way and got the message:
Sorry, we need you to reset your password as a security precaution.

We've sent you an email that will allow you to reset your password quickly and easily.

As said and I wanted to re-iterate, ALWAYS go direct to any site that is sending emails about account details, your details, or passwords. Just go to the site ignoring the email links and you will soon find out if it is legitimate or not

Help! I received the same message too! I did as everyone suggested and logged into linkedin directly and received a message :

Sorry, we need you to reset your password as a security precaution. We've sent you an email that will allow you to reset your password quickly and easily.

LI sercurity then sent me an email to my WORK address and NOT my personal email address that I have on file with them. Asking me to click on the link to change my password. How did they get my work email address?
Is this a scam?

How many email addresses do you have in Linked? You can have up to five I think and you designate one as your default address.

Login directly to Linked = NOT through the email sent = and reset you password. When done with that you can update your email addresses and which one you want as default.

Thanks Frank! I did as you instructed and it worked! I created a good password this time.
