3d Embossed - Chrome It !

A couple of months ago, I posted a discussion on semi 3D photos ( embossed ) system that I was working on.

The subject of the post was (and still is) that I had been trying for a very long time to come up with a different look on some photos.

Sort of making some of photos look different somehow (AKA my own style on some photos - not all...)

In my younger days, I bought a new 73 Chevy Nova car which would not go very fast.

My friends suggested that I "CHROME IT" instead, since there was nothing I could do to make this particular year model do any better because of the catalytic converter, Etc...

My friend had a 72 Chevy Nova - and it was fast. I didn't realize that models would change by the time I bought mine. Damn it !

"Might as well make it look different " - was the joke back then.

Anyway, maybe I am still following this reasoning by applying these filters to some of my photos. If they don't look good on their own, "CHROME IT" I say....

Yes, I know that nothing beats a great photo. This is just me playing in the electronic sandbox on rainy days.

You may like some of the results ( or not ). Of course, the final outcome remains to be determined by buyers...

While I think some of your attempts work, some do not. The effect can be overly distracting. I personally don't like the idea of applying filters to 'salvage' a bad photo.

Thank you Murray for taking the time to visit.

I am the eternal optimist. Since they have only been recently posted, we will have to wait and see what time decides.

With over 850 photos posted, I am only trying to offer some variety to the mix. Each rendition is a work in progress.

I do appreciate your time and comments very much. Thank you !

I like this one because of the colors and design, and there aren't any blurry spots. "Jewel Box" is quite beautiful, also. You're onto something with those! You have these categorized as photographs, but they look to be more in the realm of digital art.

Thank you Patricia. The fact that you took the time to look them over is certainly appreciated.

I have designed several hundred images such as the ones you mentioned. I Post them slowly over time.

I don't want to overwhelm the website with similar looking photos and try to keep somewhat of a mix. ( If visitors would express more interest, I would gradually add more to the mix ).

Of course, some of the renditions posted for sale are computer generated fractals, then brought into several other software to create an interesting and colorful final product.

Again, thank you for your kind comments

Hi, Carlos,

I remember your earlier post on this topic, and while I love using 3-D and embossing elements in my digital art, I don't think they can save an image that 'doesn't look good' in its own right.

I approach it from a different angle, by creating an image that I'm already pleased with, then adding dimensional elements to ramp things up a touch.
If I don't believe the original image is wonderful and worthy, I won't spend the time and brain power to embellish it.

I posted this example, just yesterday:

Whatever the approach, It's great that you're looking at fresh ways to enhance and present your work; I hope it goes well for you! :-)
