Pay Pal has worked wonders for me. I got to FAA after the checks were stopped and was bummed out. I didn't want to do Pay Pal, but now I love it. You can transfer money from Pay Pal to your bank, but I prefer to use Pay Pal as a separate photography account. Come on over to 2014! It's pretty nice here! j/k

I do everything through PayPal - its the safest thing for me. Giving them your bank account is the way you get money... the future of checks will eventually be non existent. Lots of online retailers only accept PayPal/Square/similar things since its safe, quick and covers both ends - the receiver and giver of money in the event of non-shipment/damage/etc.

But all in all its the only way to do things on here, so either accept it, or find another POD - which will also likely only offer electronic payments.

I think Paypal has a debit card available, but not sure if that requires financial institution information. Personally speaking, set up a separate dummy account, so to speak, dedicated only for FAA/Paypal payments, and separate from other accounts.

I've been using PayPal for years without ever having a problem. You've nothing to fear by giving them your bank number. You'll find it's so much nicer than having to trudge to the bank to deposit a check, especially if it's a small amount. I won't make a special trip to the bank for a tiny amount so small checks tend to get forgotten until they expire, or lost altogether. Then I'd find it a year later and have to mail it back to whoever and ask them to reissue and hope I didn't do the same thing to the new one. What a hassle. No more of that! I can't even remember that last time I actually set foot in the physical bank. It's been great.

If you're worried about your current bank account maybe consider opening another one at another bank just to link to PayPal? I think it's pretty easy to get a free checking account these days, isn't it? Just open another account separate from your main account.

Thank Guys, I use Paypalall the time and I think it is great, I have found out that they now use a separate Link to withdraw by cheque, for those of you that might use it, it is, www.paypal.com/wdcheck

Thanks again Joe, Heather and Jeffrey + Chrita

I, too have been reluctant to give PayPal my bank account information. I don't want to give them the ability to withdraw money from my bank account. Does anyone know if there's a way to let PayPal make deposits, but prohibit withdrawals?

No, that's not possible. You need a checking account to prove your ID, county of residence etc. However, once the account is setup and confirmed, you can close the checking account. I manage several PayPal accounts, both personal and business. The business account has a debit card attached to it. Without a checking account linked to the account you can withdraw up to $400 a day from an ATM. The debit card used to be issued by Chase Bank and you could use Chase Bank ATMs without a withdrawal fee. I'm not sure this is still the case.

The business account also allows me to accept credit card sales via a free app for my iPhone/iPad and free card swiper. I was an early adopter and pay only 2.5% and $.25 per transaction. This is for all credit cards, including American Express. The money is instantly available in your PayPal account and can be accessed via the debit card. Everything I pay for on the debit card gets a 1% rebate about the 10th of every month. This reduces the transaction to just 1.5%, which is pretty amazing. You do not get the 1% rebate on ATM withdrawals.

Funds from credit card payments are available immediately. Yes, I mean immediately. The funds are in my PayPal account within 30 seconds of swiping the card and getting the approval.

You may still be able to deposit checks into your PayPal account as well. Via the iPad/iPhone app you take a picture of the front and back of the check and within 5 business days the moneys are deposited into your account. I was told this this service was discontinued, but I used it just the other day without an issue.

I've had disputes and all in all I feel I've been treated very fair. Usually the disputes are the name the charge appears under on the buyers credit card statement. They forget making the purchase and dispute the charge. It will tie up the disputed $$ for several weeks. If you withdrew the $$ before the dispute then PayPal will withdraw the sum from the attached checking account. If you closed the checking account then PayPal will demand payment and if not received will turn the account over to a collection agency.

Paypal, and all that goes with using it, is the cost of doing business on line. Seriously, if you want to make sales over the internet, you need this (or other similar service). It does require you to be upfront and business-like, and, really, if you can't deal with linking a couple accounts to it...they can be dedicated to your business only..don't have to be your only or main bank accounts...then you need to re-evaluate what you are trying to do online. This is how you establish your credibility as a seller online.

PayPal is great except when it isn't. Things usually go smoothly. As long as your account doesn't get locked up and you always fund purchases with a credit card instead of from your bank account or a PayPal balance (so you can dispute charges with the cc company instead of PayPal) you're generally in good shape.

When did FAA stop sending out checks? I haven't sold anything for a long time and hadn't heard anything about that. When I looked at my account info the option to receive payment by check was still there?

We stopped cheques for all but people already signed up for them, last year.

If you have a problem receiving a cheque, we will no longer send them but require a PayPal account instead.

I love PayPal! I've never had a problem with it, and I prefer that only Paypal has my debit/bank information instead of every institution or person I have transactions with, whether I'm earning money or spending money.

I just got a paypal debit card they sent me free. If you go on paypal and sign up for the card, then you can spend the money right out of the paypal account without linking it to your bank account!

Never of heard of anyone complain about PayPal withdrawing money from anyone's checking accounts? Where did that idea come from? PayPal is a bank. They are regulated just like a bank. I have been with them since the first year they were in business. Never have had one problem with them.

The big problem most people have with PayPal is when they make the mistake of opening the phony emails.

I have never opened an email for PayPal. Not ever the legitimate ones. I get an email that looks like it is official, I still don't open it. I got to paypal.com and log in if I need to see what is going on.

PayPal is not a bank in the US. It is a bank in the EU. The term used in the US is a "Money Service." It's like a check cashing service and other money stores. It is not regulated like a bank, except it has to follow US sanctions etc. Your funds are not insured or protected.
