Finished My Stone Peace Sign!

Hey,

I started this peace sign made of stone in the desert region of San Luis Potosi in 2009. Added some to it each time I went, then made an image.

Just finished it about a week ago. :)

Here's a link to info regarding it, and GPS data for it's location as well :) HERE

Cool Skip... i love the meditative process that happens while gathering and placement in an on-going piece/event like this... . =>))

Thank you :) I'm sure I'll be back there, but not sure if I'll do anything else with this, or start something new.

@bob, yes... I did a version facing the right side up of the peace sign, but I liked the mountain background better is this version. The other one is nice too, but this one is slightly better even flipped. :)

just think, in a thousand years when this gets excavated scientists are going to think this is some form of alien communication.

Cool Skip. You could always turn it around. ;-)

Actually, doesn't seem that most care much how it's oriented. :)

Sometimes, I arrive at the location and find offerings to the peace sign. The last time I was there was just about a week ago or so. Before that, it'd been a year and a half. Was surprised that it was mostly intact with just a couple stones kicked out of position, by what looked like a goat herder's burro. Or possibly some goats since it's right off a well-used goat trail.

A friend passed away a few years ago. His wife asked me if I'd scatter some of his ashes there. I did. And, the Cuban cigar tube that carried his ashes (his favorite brand of cigar) is buried in the center.

Wow. I am impressed, Skip.

Well done, sir.

Thanks Walter! My legal name is Walter too. I actually go by "Walter" while in Mexico, because Spanish speakers who don't speak English pronounce Skip as "Eskeep".

"Walter" sounds much better in Spanish. :)

Skip, that's awesome! Have you considered flipping the image 180 degrees so the sky is on the bottom? I just flipped my laptop over to view it that way, and I think it would work.

Thanks April. Nah. I like it the way it is. But, I'll likely put up the composite I did from the other side too, for those who the orientation bugs. :)

Here's one shot, and stitched from the other side.

I think you're right. I like the colors and background of the first one better. If it were me, I would probably just copy the inside half circles of the peace symbol and layer them over the half circles of the first one so it's facing the right way.

Thanks for looking April. Yep, I think that's likely what YOU would do.

Or, better yet... you could go out into the desert, make your own stone design, then make an image of it however you choose! I like that one the best. :)

Now you need a drone with camera.

Very cool, Skip. I enjoyed your story of your journey as well.

Thanks Janice!

@Viktor, waiting for it to eventually show up on Google. At the link, there's a screen shot of GPS data, but doesn't show yet. Though, the main stone outline has been there since 2009.
