Random Acts Of Paying It Forward

I have found a great joy with my new art form. I am taking street photography shots here in Asheville, NC. This mountain town has
an incredible variety of people from straight-laced to weird and wonderful. I shoot the entertainers and buskers as well as the ordinary people. Then I create art from those images. Finally, I print an 8x10 of the art and return to downtown to give them to the people whose photos I took. It is giving back after "taking." The reactions of surprise and delight are absolutely the best. No, I don't make any money doing this and I have not seen a single sale as a result of the effort, but that isn't the purpose. I do hand out my cards with the prints and I do get site hits, but my real reward is from seeing happiness. Life is good.

I'd love to hear similar thing all y'all do. It may give me more ideas. :)

I can't think of a similar thing that I do but can I use your idea in the future? I love it.

Do you get permission from the people who's image you are taking? Do you tell them you are going to sell their photo on the internet?

As long as the subject is on public property they have little expectation of privacy and a person may taking their photo without their permission and a release is not needed as long the image is not used for commercial purposes i.e. advertising.

What Jeff said. There is a NY Supreme Court case from 2007 that set precedent used in all cases of public shoots.
