Woohoo! The Ice Has Been Broken...with Two Sales.

I got serious about promoting here and moving my focus from IK to FAA just a few weeks ago - AND - I just received an email that I sold two photographs this morning to a customer from Newark, DE. So, yes, I am a happy camper.

They were not large prints but they were ordered matted and framed and were purchased through my AW site (not FAA or Pixels). Using Google Analytics I could see that the "click" to the AW site originated from an Ocean City, MD website where I am displaying a couple of the (pre-made) image links). Now that the ice has been broken I will certainly be uploading (and creating) more pieces. I just uploaded 5 photographs yesterday but still have a ways to go to hit my first 100.

This sale "converted" on my AW and not on the FAA or Pixels sites. The customer came from a link I had here: http://www.octhebeach.com/events/beachcam.html - which goes to show that marketing "elsewhere" can create sales activity here. I also have a blog-type site (my own domain name) that has a couple links to here. However that small site has not yet gained much of a following about photography - but it will. My efforts there regarding my photography are new and the site will gain traction - it just takes time.

I don't believe in attracting people to the FAA or Pixels sites because there are links (leaks) to hundreds of thousands of works by other artists. I certainly don't begrudge them getting attention but when I attract a visitor I want them to see my work. Period.

I also am working on branding a unique domain - www.USPictures.com. That domain is being "pointed" to my AW. If something should ever happen to this company I will easily be able to "move" any traffic I develop to another place. That is so I won't have to start all over again.

Once I get a bit of a track record (which may take another few months) I may put together a tutorial about what works for me and what doesn't work for me. That will be on my photography blog - but I'll be sure to mention it here.
