Chairs have always fascinated me. I try to bring out the "character" of each one I photograph. Here are two of my favorites from my "Have a Seat" Gallery
"I'll Wait for You" is a moody piece. I love how the leaves have fallen on this classic garden bench, showing the passing of time. Photographed at the Doris Duke Estate.
"BenchMark" has so many tones and textures to keep the eye moving. This image was photographed at Batsto Village.

Typical chairs used in a barber shop, used for sitting commonly, as standing would be too much of a bother for the barber.
There is nothing more than a barber likes, it's when having an audience. People gathered round watching the show, the hair starts large and now it's small.

Lookin' good, folks! :)
Just as a reminder, just two images per participant, and keep 'em coming.

I walked into my living room in our home in Pennsylvania and was struck by the light play on the objects and curtains.
This painting was done plein air on the hottest day of the summer. I was attending a 2 week painting seminar at OxBow, part of SAICs summer classes. I found some feeble shade and proceeded to paint. It was so hot that by the time I got acrylic off the palette to the canvas it was already setting up. It made for great texture in the work.

Patricia,
My grandparents had two or three of those metal yard chairs, and they were pretty darn sturdy (at that time), with 30+ grandchildren at any given time playing on them.

I moved to this town a short while ago so when I have free time I load up the dogs and we go exploring the outskirts. This image was captured on such an adventure. My eye was drawn to the fact that the color of the old chair matched the trim and front door paint and also to the lines of the porch and the siding on the house.

My son's Catahoula dog, Blue, waiting patiently in front of an old green bench outside a storefront in Round Top, Texas. Catahoulas are a strain of blackmouth cur, which is the type of dog depicted in the famous "Old Yeller" movie and book. (All Hollywood was able to find to star in the movie was a yellow lab, which is a far cry from the real Old Yeller. ;) )

I already posted two - here's one more since I saw the note that we can add a third. Still have more if the extension allows another batch of three LOL
This is one of those shots you take when you are in a "there's nothing worth photographing here" situation but want to take pictures anyway. During the last few months of my mother's life, my three sisters and I took turns living in her home and caring for her for one week a month. It was pretty much a 24-7 situation, but when the hospice worker came to bathe her, we had about 45 minutes free. I usually chose to take walks in her neighborhood - an Albuquerque subdivision that dates from the early 1950s - not very interesting, I thought, but I needed to get out. Of course I carried my camera, just in case. And this photo, now a personal favorite both for what it is and because it brings this very special time of my life back to me, is the fruit of one of those walks. It was early March and still a bit chilly - this chair and metal outdoor sofa frame were sitting on the small porch of a modest home, waiting patiently to be used and enjoyed.

This is one of my first street photographs taken in Chicago, 1959 with some kind of borrowed Kodak camera (?)
i was roaming my neighborhood taking snaps and found this one as i walked through an alley...
The woman in the photo is seated behind the apartment building where she and her husband sat outdoors in what they considered their backyard... Her husband had died the year before this photo.
One other note, the photograph was not posed, i saw her sitting there took the picture, then went over and talked with her...

A strange story: This is my most popular 'seating' image. It has sold a handful of times, but always to buyers in California . . . which both pleases and confuses me. ;-)
These two images show seating in the Hemisfair Lila Cockrell Theater, in San Antonio, Texas. I was there to watch my niece's dance recital rehearsal -- but, quickly realized how little interest I had in watching a dozen other groups of random kids perform first. Pre-teens and hip-hop; need I say more? ;-)
Another reason to never leave home without my camera!

hmmm, two to pick ...
In North Carolina I spotted this odd 'surreal' combo on the wall in an alley. I loved the odd 'off the wall' feel of it. I thought ,"Sometimes it is not reality that sits well with us but surreality" and snapped the picture.
In Key West I saw this pier near Mallory Square and loved the bright pastel hues. I wanted to come back and capture this with the umbrellas open but by then the light was not as flattering and they had all the condiment/napkin holders which marred the simple lines in my honest opinion.
