Donations For Our Veterans

Hello my fellow Artists.
American Legion Post 738, here in Northeast Ohio, will be holding a silent auction to benefit our veterans. This post reaches out to current veterans in need and to our veterans going back to Vietnam, Korea and WWII. Showing them they are not forgotten and thanking them for their service. This silent auction will be held in February of 2015 and I am asking the artistic community to donate art work to the auction so that the full profit can go toward these men and women who put their lives in danger in the service of our great country, I personally will be donating 3 pieces to this cause and I hope you will join me.
If you are interested in making a donation please contact me and we can discuss the specifics. I do have the non-forprofit EIN number from the Post so you can write this donation off on your taxes.
Thank You in advance for considering a donation.
Bethany

"There is no tax deduction incentive for artists to donate our own work. Anyone else who owns an artwork can deduct the entire sale price of the piece that they donate to charity, but we artists are only allowed to deduct the value of the materials used to create the piece of art. You, as the artist, may not deduct the fair market value of the work. Knowing that we have given to a worthy cause is the only reward we receive."

Jeffery- Thanks for that input.
I am surprised no one who has read this has wanted to donate a piece to benefit our soldiers. These men and women put their lives at risk for our country. Any and all donations are appreciated. We, as artists, can make a difference to these soldiers with our gifts and I hope some of you consider stepping forward to help. Please let me know if you will consider a donation.
Thank you- Bethany

Be careful with your wording. "I am surprised no one who has read this has wanted to donate a piece to benefit our soldiers." sounds awful snarky and condescending. Personally, I think donating to help our soldiers would be wonderful and if I were to do it, I'm specifically want to donate closer to where I live.

I apologize, I was not trying to be snarky at all. Thank you for pointing that out. I totally understand wanting to donate closer to where you live and if i can help connect you to someone in your area I would be happy to.
