Shameless Plug - Kickstarter

Last year my Kickstarter campaign for the 2014 Marshmallow Microcosm campaign was so successful (funded 203%), that I decided to run another one for 2015. Its been a great way to generate pre-sales, and front the money for printing which is a lot of out of pocket cost without already knowing how many you need printed - so having some already sold is a huge help!

So shameless plug for my newest campaign. I know a few here have expressed interest in getting their hands on a calendar, so here's your chance.

Just wanted to share an update - I'm beyond fully funded - 412% to be exact... it ends in a bit less than 3 hours.

For anyone making a calendar this year, Kickstarter is a great way to get pre-sales, and get the funds to print without an upfront investment out of pocket.
Worked for me well beyond my funding goals 2 years in a row now. Worth a shot for anyone thinking about it.

Heather, that's great! Love your little marshmallow vignettes. Very clever. I have friends who have participated in Kickstarters, but I'd never considered it myself. Can I ask where most of your backers come from? Family, friends, social media, other artists? I'm just wondering how to go about gathering support for such an endeavor.

A handful are friends and family. The vast majority are total strangers. My first few backers were strangers. I also messaged all my backers from my previous year and let them know I was doing another one, and a few came in that way. In your stats it tells you which ones came from outside sources, and which came directly from Kickstarter (there are a ton of folks on there that just browse through the projects and back them.)

I think I know who I'm printing with this year, but still looking around. Last year I used Vistaprint (upgraded to cardstock paper - absolute must, very good quality) - but don't think I can get the same deal. Year before that I used Lulu, but also can't get the same deal.
