Attn: Support Re: Search By Color

Hello,

Is it not possible to search only our artist websites by color as it is going in via the FAA or Pixels site?

Seems like this worked before but mine doesn't at the moment.

What I'm asking is, can someone search ONLY your artist website by colors without returning other artists work as it does if you search by color via the main sites?

Skip,

I checked colour search on two of my AW images and it is not going to FAA or Pixels. The one thing I noticed is, the colour search is selecting exact RGB values (i.e. R-23, G-45, B-123.) Unless I have those exact values in another image I surmise it will not return results, as when the search is conducted the returning page remains blank. But, according to the url it is staying on my AW.

Jeffrey,

That's not what I'm talking about. Let me say it differently. When I search my gallery via clicking the color tabs for any of my images on FAA, I get results from all artists & more tools too.

When I click the same color tabs via my artist website, it doesn't return any results or color tools at all. I doubt it has anything to do with palettes because I have over 1600 images & a very wide spectrum of color in my collection.

My guess is those color search tools aren't turned on for artist websites. Or, the feature is broken... at least on my account that is.

It only catalogs a few colors from your picture. The dominate colors. And it does search for an exact RGB combination. It doesn't search every color in your picture.

"When I search my gallery via clicking the color tabs for any of my images on FAA, I get results from all artists & more tools too."

Confirmed. That directly ties into the 'sort options' at the top of the search results page for FAA. Try it - type in 'tree' for example and you'll see the colour sort options. Why? Only Sean knows. Give the buyers tons of options to purchase?

"When I click the same color tabs via my artist website, it doesn't return any results or color tools at all."

Confirmed. I get a blank page too. Sean may be tweaking things (I say this loosely), as it has been reported that AW is also due for a refresh. Pure speculation on my part.

of course, there are 16777216 combinations of color with RBG so a match in your own gallery may be hard to come by, however, if there is no match, it should at least give a screen indicating such.

Ok... here's the specific actual scenario.

Someone contacts me and says they just redecorated a condo or a specific room. I know we all hate being asked what "art" will go with the new couch, but I'm over it. I don't care why they buy, as long as they buy. ;)

So, they have a particular paint color or couch they want to match, and they tell you they want to buy one of your pieces that will match or go with it. If I go to the search on FAA or Pixels, that's easy. There are color tools, including a secondary color, built right into the search screen with other color choices as well. That's great if I want to send my potential customer looking at everyone else's work. Yeah, not going to happen. ;)

Seems that feature could/should be working the same way via the artist websites, but it is not. Or, perhaps I've got something turned off on the back end? Or, it's not working right now?

I asked about this some time ago and if I remember correctly the color swatches on the aw site no longer work and have been discontinued.

Thanks. If the feature on AW has been discontinued, that's pretty unfortunate. Was planning of utilizing it more. Too bad. :(
