Let's look at the 1949-50 Oldsmobile. That hood ornament.looks like an Oldsmobile and that piece of chrome on that back fender says OLDS too! More likely a 1950.........

I think Louise has it right. I don't like the hood ornament for it to be the Olds but I don;t like the grill for it being a Chevy. But I am going with the Chevy.

Was Olds and Chevey owned by GM back in those day? The sure look an lot alike. The Chevy did have the chrome on the back also.

the 1949 Chevys have a grill that from the side look like Cadillacs. (I have a 1949 Cadillac.) The give away, though, is the hood emblem and the fenders. The Olds, on the other hand, had a rounded grill, not a modified egg crate and is distinctly different from the side. The hood emblems for the Chevy and Cadillac at that time both had the "winged" bottom with the Chevy bow or the Cadillac crest. This appears to have the "wings". The Olds had the circle like thing with a ring around it, resembling Saturn.
Rich: my Caddy has the same fender trim. Just a GM option.

Took a look at the photo Floyd posted, which is of a 1950 Chevy. Note the hood emblem is changed from the "wing" under the bow tie to a half-circle and the modified egg crate grill has changed, so I'm sticking to a 1949 Chevy Deluxe.

Rich is usually right, but this is indeed a '49 Chevy Deluxe.

Oldsmobile grills in that era were cleaner and smoother. They had a down curve on the ends and didn't have the ladder that this photo has. Old's also had bright work across the midsection of the rear quarters, and the chrome splash guard was wider as well.

Chevy it is! That hood ornament got me! Thought it was round!!!
