One Of My Best

One of my best viewed and commented on photographs has not sold. I have received many, many comments and sometimes people even go back for a second look. It's a very popular photo. So. why is it not selling? You would think with all the attention this one is getting, there would have been several sales by now. Can anyone give me any encouragement?

more people like to look then to buy. while the critter is cute, how many homes want the thing on their wall? do you have it hanging on your wall? some images are lookers. some are sellers. like i can see this as a stock image for pest control.

400 views isn't that many though, i have many that have thousands and either no sales are very few. views never mean sales. i'm thinking that even if it was a coon and it's cubs it may not sell, as well as a cat and it's kittens. it's just how it is. also be aware that images can sit around for years before it sells. i would suggest to advertise this on raccoon lover sites and exterminator sites, follow people on twitter and maybe they will want it. most of these views may be internal or bots.

Well, it could be it's popular just because of the subject matter of the raccoon being "caught" is pretty darn cute and people want to comment and give a thumbs up so to speak, but you have to remember that the people commenting are probably also sellers first and buyers second. Also, it could be a bit tricky fitting this into a home's decor!

I don't know that the title Sweet Racoon fits the pose exactly, more like Oh Sh#@....they caught me!!! Now what?!! It's a really great capture, be happy it's being enjoyed.

I would recommend you add the spelling 'raccoon' to your tags as that is the first spelling better known and beef up your tags some. They are a little slim and if someone is searching for 'raccoon' photos here, they may not have seen your 'racoon' due to spelling. So you can add that to the tags, also - coon, wildlife, funny animal,nocturnal....

yesterday, a buyer came to my home and after looking at a number of my paintings she brought an older one, a painting. I done 12 years ago. Often the numbers of views or comments doesn't make any different and all you needs is that one person.
By the way, when I was in China last year, the local zoo has a Raccoon display because they consider rare over there! They should come to see them on our garbage days.

Constance,

It's a really cute picture and I would like to note two things I noticed. First being, the added frame I am seeing around the exterior edges might be putting people off. Secondly, I noticed the largest size available is 10"x14". These two could affect potential sales, (i.e., someone may want it much larger without a frame border.)

Good luck with it.

Jeffrey makes two good points...the border isn't needed and can interfere with matting and framing and you have resolution of around 3000 x 3900 so you can go up to 30 x 39 ish? Where's the math people when you need them :/

Its a cute photo that might get a lot of play on Facebook but its doesn't have the lasting power for someone to hang on the wall and look at everyday. Maybe adding a funny saying to it would make it more like a poster that someone might buy.

This sexy showgirl snap of mine has close to 1,000 views (no sales) but I doubt its attracting many fine art buyers.

You would think with all the attention this one is getting, there would have been several sales by now. - Not really. I have some images with 1000 views And no sales. Views statistick is quite irrelevant,

Hi, Constance,

I reluctantly have to say that this animal doesn't exude 'sweetness' to me . . . he looks trapped, endangered, and uncomfortable. That might discourage art buyers. I honestly can't imagine the home or work decor this piece would enhance.

It's a good photograph -- perhaps stock photos or nature-themed sites might be a better market for this one?

There are some lovely images in your portfolio, which work much better as 'fine art', IMO. For instance, this black and white piece is very cool -
