And, with a brief look, well worth the visit. Nicely done, Naomi. (I'll spend some time later on to go through everything.)

Very nice start with nice images :) Seemed to load very slow, so you might want to look into image sizes and stuff...

Load "fairly" well for me on DSL. But the background image does have more "weight" than the entire rest of the home page. Naomi, you might consider reducing the dimensions and optimizing the JPEG compression for efficiency. You only have about eight seconds before the average visitor will bail out.

For example: I just copied that image into Photoshop Elements and tried saving at "medium" compression (without changing the dimensions). It reduced the weight from nearly 598KB down to 35KB. That will make a big difference in page load time.

Also the background images should load through CSS because then the browser will cache...Also you are running a lot of script on your pages...maybe get away from them if possible...are you hand coding or using a CMS site?

Might want to clean up the errors http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.naomieburgessphotography.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

You probably won't be able to fix the errors on most CMS sites and still get it to work...the people who code them don't always follow the rules (like some photographers lol). However, everyone should be aware of the W3C and the positive effects it has on browser compatibility and code conformity. Which CMS are you using?

Mine give me complete control, no need for coding (i don't know how to code) its less of a CMS website and a website builder (its visaprint) anyway i think if fixed the slowness of the website a little, i changed the background photo, deleted the descriptions of the photos in the gallery (since you cannot see them anyway and i didn't know that) and reduced the amount in the gallery as well so hopefully it is running a little bit quicker (it is on mine anyway)

I would look into using a more professional looking font for your text. Your bio should focus more on what you are doing now, rather than your history. And National Geographic should be capitalized.

Naomi,

I was able to browse around with no issues or lags in page loading, -- well done!

Suggestion - Get rid of the word "hope" . Don't hope - do.

I hope you come back

vs.

Come back to see the latest releases

I hope you find your way around my site and don't get lost.

vs.

Use the tabs at the top for easy navigation.

Your "Store" tab says "Photoshop Actions" on hover.
