These are 3 sculptures in my anthropomorphic ant series, the series I have in mind is to portray that ants in all types of human activities and showing human emotions and movement. The inspiration came after doing one in which I liked the movement of the sculpture and though I could repeat this and have a vehicle to practice giving emotions and movement to my sculptures and make them more interesting, this was about a month ago and I'm up to 20 sculptures in the series, so far I don't think I have nearly scratched the surface with these ants. Nice idea for a thread Vivian!

Great theme Viv!! I love doing series work, and actually did my first series when I was 8 years old. I think some subjects just call for it!! I will share some from my "Life in the 'Dale" series, this is currently my longest going series that I am working on. It is a bit of a whimsical series for me, based on my hometown, and childhood. As a child everything looks BIG. It is about the simpler days when farming ruled the land, and is tied together with the theme of a large object, and witty titles.

RAPTORS, painted well before their time...I painted over most of them after the series of 15 was completed. I only salvaged some of the photographs from this series done about 25 years ago....

i don't make too many series of things, but this is a sequence of dystopia ruled by me.

HYBRIDS: jHOTography....9 samples of trpitych compilations of sections of photographs and the Judaic series of paintings. These combinations have been very exciting to put together!

Some of you probably don't know that I've done some 'traditional' art....surprise!! Ghost Flower Series, pen and ink and watercolor.

I wanted the to feature the details of the flowers in pen and ink with all the usual "colors" in the background. I did these right before I joined FAA in 2012.

Here's a collage I did of another series of mine, based around my favorite apple tree that's in my front yard. Same tree, different seasons.

p HOTography series of HYBRIDS....part painting, part photography...all abstract....some of the paintings are up to 30 years old..all photographs were taken in the last few years, proving that an artist's eye is consistent in how and what it sees....

Thank you for this thread suggestion...I always work in series, not on purpose but because I need to explore a particular subject or technique...just a natural progression to go from one series to another for me....

BIRDNESS: This was the last step in my bird series, where I had abstracted down to essence of bird...I then jumped off the ledge and went non-objective...never looked back, BTW!

I intended for this little pretty weed group to be able to go together or in pairs if someone wanted.

Well it is hard to share my thoughts about what I do...I rather just work on whatever strikes me as feeling right at the moment. Sometimes I like the result and post it here sometimes not so much. It wasn't really my intent to create a series...it just evolved that way.

Is it okay to post pairs intended to go together? I know it's not quite a series but...

Great thread, Vivian! The greatest value I see, besides the obvious, is that artists who wonder about building bodies of work that show consistency for submissions to galleries, can see how many options there are for creating such collections..the choices are limitless!!

Anytime I take a picture, I plan on it being one in a series. Otherwise, why would I leave my house? I hate to take pictures, but I love the post production work.

These are all artists/gallery scenes.

My biggest series of images is The Grand Canyon, it may never be completed.
You can stand on the same spot 30 days in a row, and at the same time of day, all will be different.
The same is true of many views in Yellowstone and many other National and State Parks.
But, generally will go to different spots from the same viewpoint area, ten or twenty feet apart, and to all Main Vistas in the Grand Canyon

As the Grand Csnyon is about 218 miles long and you can capture it from both sides, a Lifetime is not long enough to capture it all.
So four years ago moved to Arizona to visit every month, for at least a week.

These horses are near my financial adviser's home In Ellicott City, MD. There are other "animal farms" near as well, so whenever I'm there during the day, I take a walk to see them from the road. These guys are always side-by-side and are quite photogenic when grazing in the pasture...

These three are part of a 4 seasons series that I created.

I like nature and shells. The shell collections are influenced by images of 19th century collections.

I took these and many more in the span of a couple of hours on a delightful morning visit to the pier here. So many opportunities.

I love soft colors in the garden.

We don't use the S word around here in summer, or fall. Let's just say these are winter scenes.

I'll help you out Jim, I'll stay in summer this time! I like textures for a romantic look these are in my French Garden gallery. There are a lot of crepe myrtles where I live.

Thanks Suzanne. Yes, let's get back to summer. Wild roses are the floral emblem of Alberta, they bloom here in June and grow just about everywhere here..
