welcome to FAA Terri.

Rich Franco

Terri,

Welcome! And very nice image, hope to see more!

As far as uploading, it seems it's more an Art than a Science! Make sure YOUR broadband is running as fast as possible. Make sure your images are around 24mbs or so. The closer they get to 25, the less likely they will go through, since FAA attach's stuff to them and then they are over 25mb limit. Images and general editing gets done after midnight sometime and not sure who's midnight either! LOL! So if you edit stuff, like pricing, it may not show up until the next morning.

Keywords here are the "key" to being seen, so invest some time in the keywording and also have your name as a keyword too, for searching reasons.

There are a lot of bells and whistles here and not all of them, intuitive,so ask around when you have issues.

And finally, this is a really great group here and lot's of good information get's shared and a good reason alone to be here,

Good Luck,

Rich Franco

Thank you Rich for such a warm invite, yes it is a bit overwhelming, I do have plenty more photos I will be posting as soon as I learn my way around lol,

Terri Latham

@ Rich what does "position" mean when after you have uploaded a photo to gallery?

Carolyn Weltman

hi Terri, welcome.

position means which order you want to put your images in. however, you only have one image so far so there's only one position it could be in. :) once you have more, it means you can re-order them once you've uploaded them and place them the way you want to see them. hope that made sense.

Alexey Stiop

Welcome to the club, Terri! Very nice beginning! You may want to add a description (what it is and where) and some more keywords.

Terri Latham

Thank you Carolyn and yes that was very helpful lol, I had no idea what that meant lol......@ Alexey that was very sweet of you! I will be uploading more photos in a bit, still trying to get warmed up to how to do things lol....all you guys so far have been so sweet and inviting, there for awhile I didn't think anyone was going to respond lol

Terri Latham

Alexey, I added just about all the keywords I could think of, if you know of any I can add throw them at me, sweet :)

Here's a tip, Terri:

The key to effective keywording is to use all the terms – and only the terms – that are clearly conveyed by the content and context of the image. When keywording your files, take care to include terms that describe the main content, what it's doing, where it is, what concepts it conveys in your image, and how the image is composed.

Alexey Stiop

Here's another keywording tool: http://dusegard.se/PhotoKeywording.aspx
As Jeff pointed make sure to include location info - people are always interested in where the photo was taken.
Here are a few generic ones: cafe, restaurant, outdoor, urban, city, town, sky, dramatic... You get the idea...

Christina Ochsner

Terri, in your key words also add the title of your artwork and your name.

Terri Latham

ok you guys its up there, give your critiques lol......and yes I will do that Christina, I didn't think of that :)

Melissa Bittinger

Terrri, do you have a larger file of Main Street? I noticed it's a much smaller file size than your second image which limits sale potential.

Terri Latham

Melissa I noticed that myself, it was taken with the same camera so I do not understand that?

Terri Latham

ok so I feel I got a lot accomplished today with uploading some of my photos....more to come, enjoy all :)

It takes a lot of time loading an image up. I'm still fairly new to the site and I had to go back and edit the first images I loaded up several times. It gets easier tho!

Roy Pedersen

Hi Terri and welcome.
I'm fairly new here myself and it can be a bit daunting to start with but you will soon get the hang of it.
Now my little bits of advice.
Use the keywording tools carefully. They will give you many keywords.Take the ones that apply to your image and disgard the rest. Keywords like nobody,no one for example are for use in stock sites and are not needed here.
When you get more images up start grouping them into galleries as it is far easier for potential buyers to find what they are looking for rather that having lots of different images of different subject to look through.
I do like the ones you have

Terri Latham

Thank you Roy, and id like to take a min, and go a little deeper with your comment please, first everyone is mentioning "tags" im listing them, but you mentioned "keyword tools" am I missing an option here that would make this whole tagging thing a lot simpler? and one more thing, "grouping galleries" I already have two separate galleries listed, unless your referring to something different, if so please tell, anything to make it an easier process on here would be great, thanks and looking forward for your advice, everyone on this discussion has been great :)

Oon Ph

http://www.mykeyworder.com/ uncheck the ones that don't apply :)

Roy Pedersen

Terri.
If you look at some of the links given on the posts they will take you to an online Keywording(TAGS) websites.Tags and keywords are the same.
You type in a couple of keywords that describe your image and images that should look similar to your should come up.You then select the words that best fit your image then you can copy and past to your image.Only choose the best ones that describe your image.
I didn't mean to group galleries but group your images into galleries. You can put the same image into more than one gallerie if needed.I have some of my seascape images into both seascape and Greece

Hi Terri.. Nice images.. I like your style. The only issue I see is the categories.. you have some marked as sculptures, some marked as paintings, and yet they are all photo's :-) If you select edit image you can change them all to photograph. Good luck!

Terri Latham

Thank you barry, im still having a bit of an issue on this "tags" feature lol

Gene Gregory

Terri..... I thought you would have been more compassionate regarding my gloom, despair, and agony. You are like that audience on the night I tried to be a stand up comic, - they just laughed at me. ; (

Hi Terri,
Welcome....I'm glad you took my advice to get help here. Everyone is great and very helpful.

Roy Pedersen

Terri, try not to think to deeply about the keyword/tags thing.
Just imagine that your trying to describe your image to someone that cannot see it and you can only use one word at at time.Imagine a family walking on a beach. What words would you use to describe it.
Family,beach,sea,sand are the obvious ones.
What about the family: Children,boy,girl,man,woman,male,female
What are they doing: playing,walking,laughing,smiling.
You get the idea

I went to the following website http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php and put in family, beach and this is some of the keywords that came back:
vacation, family, sea, boy, together, child, girl, beach, happy, woman, people, summer, young, happiness, togetherness, four, mother, father, sand, daughter, parent, outdoors, swimsuit, dad, son, mom, travel, fun, tropical, seaside, enjoying, kid, coast, water, male, caucasian, holiday, sister, brother, ocean, female, enjoyment, outdoor, outside, man, bikini, kids, coastline, joy, smile, adults, cheerful, sandy, teens, adult, teenager, laughter, women, person, laughing, smiling, mum, infant, toddler.

As you can see it is a long list and there were many more words so just use the ones that are the best for your image.Don't forget the words that mean the same but spelt differently like MUM and MOM ,COLOR and COLOUR

Hope it helps
