From my travels to Florida last summer. This beautiful Victorian mansion was built way back in 1896 as a family home for a veteran doctor of the Civil War. Later on during the Prohibition Years it became a " Speak-Easy " or a discreet place where illegal booze was served. In the 1940's it became a popular Cuban Café visited by celebrities such as Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, Louis Armstrong and Charles Lindbergh. In 1996 it was beautifully restored as a Bed and Breakfast and remains a popular place to stay. It's pretty easy to find on the last little island of the Florida Keys just by going all the way down to the end of Key West's famous Duval Street. Right before you get to the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, just look for.. The Last House.
