I've been here since December and only sold 2 items...both to my dad. So I don't really count those...
BUT, I am setup to have my new additions post to my Facebook page and was getting a few views from there, but this past week I finally setup a Twitter account and I will get 30-40 views of my photographs within a couple of hours. I think you have to do Facebook, Twitter, and any other means of marketing yourself out there. And getting people to view/like/favorite your photographs on FAA help get your artwork pushed to the top. So the contest are good for getting your stuff out there too...if you are looking to make money, I am thinking you have to already have a captive audience, or you have to build an audience as people won't just stop by for the hell of it. I'm not looking to quit my daytime job, but I know if I want to move any photographs I will need to find ways to market them. Considering printing some of my items and selling at a local craft show or even auctioning my items off (would probably be Relay for Life so I would be donating them), but adding a business card to the back of each photograph pointing them back here could lead people to visit your site more as well.
I noticed that as much as they talk up the visibility you get with FAA online and how much they appear in search engines, I can't find any of my photographs via Google or Bing. So if you want to be seen...you have to make it happen yourself.
