Getting Into A Gallery

Hi everyone,

I have been thinking long and hard about getting my paintings in a reputable art gallery that is suited for my kind of painting style. I just wanted to find out if anyone knows any galleries in the UK that will accept my work as a young talented artist. Or if there is anyone here that has their work in a gallery and could offer their sincerest help, this would be kindly appreciated, thank you for listening and have a nice day.

You are missing a key component in all your works? My favorite Reggae Band from Birmingham!

Gallery's live in a highly competitive world and have to move a lot of art in order to pay for salaries, rent, marketing and utilities. You would need to visit a lot of galleries in your area (look in the phone books) and see what level of artwork they represent. If you think your work is compatible with what is being displayed, then approach someone at the gallery about scheduling a portfolio review.

You have a portfolio of your best 40 pieces ready to go right?

Seriously, I don't have any info on galleries other than Google searches but the one thing that does come to mind is relationships and rubbing elbows with the right people. How do I get my name and work out there? The one thing that comes to mind for me here in the States is we have things like Public Broadcasting Service a non-profit that is always looking for content, lots of news time slots that have spots for other interests throughout the neighborhood. Maybe have a local news channel do a 2 minute segment on you and your life's work. How art influenced your life in a positive way? Local museums? Twitter contacts that include local galleries etc.

Many thanks Craig, I have got a friend who works on a radio station. I remember him telling me I could come in one day or call to have a word with the boss. So I could further explore more possibilities. I think I may just jump at that chance. See how it goes.
