There's a series of free photo workshops on http://www.creativelive.com starting tomorrow. Here's the schedule:

July 31st - Water Photography
Aug 1st - Motion Blur and Freezing Photography
Aug 2nd - Night and Star Photography
Sept 24th - Aerial and Copter Photography
Sept 25th - Macro Photography
Sept 26th - Mobile and iPhonography
Sept 27th - HDR Photography

You can buy the workshop for later viewing and usually some additional goodies or just watch the free ones. They always seem to replay the free ones a couple of times.

Discovered Creative Live in 2012 by someone posting upcoming classes here on the discussions. They have really expanded their subjects and have wonderful instructors. I've purchased many classes, so much so I get extra discount offers. I learn lots of new things every time I watch but there is always so much info given I like to go back at rewatch on my schedule.

Creative Live is an excellent resource. The workshops are top quality IMHO. I bought the Photoshop series awhile ago because there was just way too much info to take in and remember. I don't usually photograph people but even their workshops on Photoshop techniques with models were interesting.

There's more of the workshop tomorrow starting at 9:00 PST. Tomorrow will include SEO and blogging, among other things.

I thought day one of the workshop was quite informative and I learned a lot. I wish they'd included a lunch break in the replay though.

Thank you Peggy! I just spent a couple of hours watching the SEO video, detailed information, excellent. From what I can tell Lawrence Chan (instructor) has duplicated his teaching and put it on his website.

You're welcome, Suzanne. I assumed that part 2 was playing starting at 9:00 today (Aug. 6) because that's what they say on the video but I see that it's replaying through the night. I don't know what their replay schedule is exactly or how long the workshop is being replayed.

I'll check out LC's website when I get a chance. He mentions having additional material on his site that's related to the workshop.

Did you watch, Edward? What did you think?

I caught some of the food photography one on Monday which was very good.

I watched a bit, I had seen some that SEO workshop before. As a marketing major a lot of what he was saying was a refresher course and some it was a bit much but there was a lot of good nuggets. One thing that was interesting was how he said if you put measurable things on your site - prices, number of years of experience, number of wedding etc, it give the competition something to beat you on.

"They have 10 years of experience? We have 11. They charge $500? We are only $499. They have done 12 weddings? We have done 13. They are a 13 year old kid? Well we are babies in diapers." etc

Lunch - I put it on my Chromebook and bring it around the house with me.

Blogging - I will say that yesterday I had a sale that was a direct link from one of my blog posts. It was the same image that I had just blogged about. I totally believe in putting your images in context. Gives you a much better thing to promote than just "I put up a new image".

Steven, his website is http://www.tofurious.com.

@ Edward, yes, I thought the bit about not putting measurable things on your site was good info too. People are always judging whether they even realize it or not.

Congratulations on the sale!

I meant to say that the workshops are geared towards portrait photographers but the info is applicable to any artist, I'd say, and not just photographers either.
