It's Raining

It's raining here... Days like this I get antsy, makes me want to run out and take pictures and write stories. I'm setting here waiting patiently for the rain to stop, to go out and walk around and see what I'll run into for a picture. What days or time of the year do you guys feel more creative?

Take an umbrella and go walk around. You won't melt.

Definitely in the winter. Summer here in the subtropics is just too hot to get out there and shoot much. Although we've had a relatively cool summer this year, with only a few triple digit days to speak of. Late October through December is probably the most pleasant time of year for us as far as weather comfort goes, and that's when I like to go out, go exploring, and find cool things to shoot.

Don't want to get your camera wet? Stay in the car, although some folks here frown on that. One of my favorite shots

is a shot I took from the drivers seat of a train in the rain. It was raining fairly hard, so I positioned the car so that I could shoot out the passenger sides window. Sometimes you just got to get out there with your camera.... since you've already said you don't shoot in the rain or the cold.

Get a raincoat for your camera.

Fall is my favorite season, I love the coolness in the air, the color of the leaves, the smell of fireplace smoke drifting through the trees.

Since you are in Enid, all the rain you get generally comes my direction. It's been pouring here today.

I have one of these rubber weather protectors on my 6D. It adds a layer of protection.

right now it's a lovely day of sunny weather and spring like temps, which is odd for this time of year. i usually get more stuff done in the winter though.

Rainy days can make some of the best photos. Especially in storms. Be careful though of lighting and high winds. Overcast conditions create diffused light which can saturate colors and reduce contrast.

Tonji, I know how you feel, but lots of gorgeous captures occur while you're outside in the rain......and..........rainy days inside, for me, are also inspirational..........

I have a Nikon so I don't need a rain suit for my camera. I will sometimes use a raincoat with an elastic wrist to put over my long lens and what ever is left over goes over the body and my head. WhenI am in New Orleans and get caught in the rain I sometimes will jump in a trolly and shoot through the window. I also find if I go out when it is about to rain or during it will clear up enough to get some great light. Maybe even a rainbow. If I stay home i will see the skies I missed on Facebook and regret it. But really it is just too hot and humid now in Florida to tempt me to get shots that can wait.
