Renoir Reproductions

Hello everyone! I was hoping someone could help me with a Renoir reproduction that I acquired. It is in a small gold frame (4" x 3") approximately. It has a paper on the back stating it's "Lady in White" with a description and it's stamped Famous Masters Co., Division of Shorewood Press, Inc., New York 17, NY. (Not sure what the 17 means). I can't find any information on this company through any of my research - only that it was based in New York. If anyone can help or has any information on what this piece is worth (if anything), I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm old enough to explain the '17'....that used to be the 2-number sort of 'zip code' before the 5 digit zips came out. I don't think they called it zip code though.

Hmm... http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/shorewood-packaging-corporation-history/ might be mother co. ...note it started in 1948 and was rather diverse

Yes - the 17 was a "postal zone" in NYC. NYC perhaps had the most zones of anywhere. http://www.oldstuffonly.com/zip_code_date.asp

Thank you all for the information. I found a similar picture frame through one of the links and one was sold on eBay for an undisclosed amount in 2007.

I think the division went out of business, as there is no listing for it any more. But the mother company is still here, and does events shows. Maybe they had that company to provide reproductions for their shows, and for what ever reason, it did not work out?
