Traveling Via Fine Art America

Now that I'm retired and have the time to travel, that opportunity is unfortunately limited by available funds. However, I found a wonderful benefit to being a member of Fine Art America and that is being able to visit places all over the world through the images of other artists. Just this morning, I traveled to New England and viewed some beautiful places in Massachusetts that only a native of the area would know about. I was able to avoid the common tourist areas and actually feel what life is like in this artists world. I've had similar experiences in, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, Canada, Italy, Spain and Sweden - to name but a few of the many.

If all you do as an artist is post your images for the sole purpose of selling them, please expand beyond your own work and visit the art of others on this site. Whenever the daily grind is getting to you and you long for a much needed break, just take a mini-vacation and visit someplace new through the eyes and lenses of another artist. You'll come away refreshed and your own creative spark will be rekindled.

I hope you enjoy your travels as much as I do.

I am getting so I can recognize just about every location in the US. I know every stretch of beach, every pier, every rocky coast, every lake and every mountain.

We live on an amazing planet…do we not? We also have some amazing talent here…off to do a mini-tour myself :) Thanks for the post!

Good point, Terry. There are places I want to visit solely due to the beautiful images people have posted.

Fully agree with you Terry... and I invite you to visit "Pays de Gex" area... a small French region on Swiss border... from which you can get an outstanding panoramic view over Mt Blanc and Alps chain.
You'll easily find the gallery within my profile.
Have a good time !

Yes, Terry. I can agree wholeheartedly, and vouch for the inspiration given by the amazing variety of Art and Artists here.
Being a 'stay at home', I travel vicariously through the gateways (no! not THAT one, lol) of Fine Art America.
My own Art is indeed a good place to visit, but, more like a tour of my psyche than a tourism destination........all welcome..............

Very true, its always nice to take a break from keywording and other "boring but necessary" jobs and just enjoy looking at art from other places. If you ever fancy visiting South America I've got several galleries you can check out!

I also enjoy seeing the many beautiful places when "traveling" through the scenic galleries posted here on FAA by our many talented artists. A pleasant and easy way to see our world and get inspired to go somewhere.

When I am unable to go to far away places, I can always find places nearby that I have not yet seen.

I love to travel and I love to see the world from different perspectives.

I, too, agree! Mental tours are wonderful escapes. Others' artwork is delightful - and the trip is even more satisfying when a complete description has been included! 'Where' is good; 'why' is the icing on the cake.

Let's tour!

I don't know that I do that much "traveling" on FAA as I do enjoy the art - not quite like going to a museum - but better than anything near. It is also nice to 'meet' other artists and photographers and see their work - as well as their surroundings and what interests them. My tack is to network off an image I look at, see who else liked/commented on it - and choose one to go look at their work, from their commentors I pick another and travel like a 'family tree' going from one person to another - zig-zagging through FAA.

I also enjoy seeing Who's On Line, and visit them to see their Art.....otherwise I'd not cross their path. And so many are not American, with interesting traditional art of their homeland , to acquaint myself with. Just recently made the acquaintance of a South African, and an Israeli, and an Iranian........think about that for a moment.....................

If you ever wanted to visit stunning Iceland feel free to take a look at my 'Iceland Landscape and Nature' gallery... ;-)

Amazing , Matthias....stunning Iceland Waterfall...v.f

We used to have a lady member from Iceland. Her oils were gorgeous, all about Iceland...the richest blues of sky and sea...the light there is phenomenal.
How does one find members from a specific place here, I wonder..? It's so long ago in my vast Favorites collection.

Thank you so much Vivian! Yes, the light was fantastic. And it was there all day and night (in June)... ;-) On some days we got up at 6 in the morning and came home at 11 pm - and the sun was still shining outside. Wonderful for photographers...
