High Humidity And Camera Care

I will be spending a few days in southern Florida in a few weeks and am concerned about going from inside low humidity air conditioning to hot swampy humidity and still be able to start shooting without the lenses, sensor etc forging up. I've had issues in the past with old point and shoots...but now with a good camera, I'm especially concerned.

I think this topic was touched on a while back that mentioned this but I can't seem to find it. Any tips will be helpful.

Thanks, Matt

Try to keep your camera from getting too cold indoors and in the car. Don't drive with the AC blasting on the camera. Leave it in the case for a while when you take it outdoors so it adjusts gradually. Use your hand to warm up lenses and the camera body after you remove it from the case. Most places you will be fine if you let the camera acclimate. Fogging can still happen in very damp humid places.

Matt,

Yes this was thoroughly covered about 2-3 weeks ago, An artist here was traveling to Puerto Rico and was to visit the Rain Forests. You can search around and see. If you can't find it, I'll look. Here's her name: Debra Chmlina

Here's a link that she started and then later, asked about Humidity :

Ideally, when in South Florida, you want a nice cold room for you and a warm room for the cameras/lenses. So you can keep your gear locked in a car trunk, in your room in a cheap styrofoam cooler, in a closet, covered with a few blankies, anything to keep the glass, on both ends of the lens, from getting coldish. If the lens does get too cold, it may take 30 minutes for the condesation to evaporate, since it's not just the glass on the outside that's now cold, but ALL those on the INSIDE too!

I was in South Florida and made that mistake ONCE! Only, I was in a helicopter and with a bunch of attorney's and a nice cold camera and lens outfit!
