I'm not sure I understand. Are you trying to add the FAA watermark to images already on the web site? FWIW, a lot of people here suggest against using watermarks.

I have images already uploaded and decided to have the watermark after thinking about it.
More and more concerns about people taking screengrabs and printing them. I don't think the watermark would stop anyone buying if they really want it.
Problem Im having after revisiting in the edit window when I update I don't see the change

It appears you tried the correct procedure. I just tried it on one of my images - and the watermark is not appearing. However, often with complex data-storage systems it can take up to a day for changes to be reflected throughout the system. So - I can give you a better answer tomorrow.

On another note... Why? Is is often thought that a watermark discourages purchases. Some people suggest using a watermark and making sure to explain in the description that the watermark will not appear on finished works. That is fine for the folks who read everything when they shop - but that is not very many. :)

Another thing that may "confuse" a potential customer if that the watermark will say Fine Art America and will be displayed as such through all the possible sites where a customer may find your work. Check out the two photos where you have a watermark and look at them on pixels.com, fineartamerica.com and your artistwebsites pages. Just imagine that you order a burger at McDonalds and it came in a Burger King wrapper...

No one should be able to get a large print from your image on FAA without buying it. They may be able to get a 900 pixel print, but that's not going to be a very big print. They may can use it on their web site, but that's what Good's reverse search is for as well as other software. Just my opinion, but it looks a bit and even tacky to me to have to explain in the description (or the bio) that the FAA watermark won't appear on the final print. Some people could take offense at that.

you have to contact the staff, i don't think you can add to them to the past like you can on other sites. but you don't want them. they uglify the image, and you may get less sales.

From here on out you can add the watermarks but for past uploads you will need to contact tech support or perhaps Abbie will drop in to assist you in adding the watermark to already uploaded images.

Thanks all
I do feel you need to protect your work and Im sure most people will understand that the final print will come watermark free
Personally I don't think it looks ugly at all. Its about valuing what you do and making it hard for people not to take what is yours.

OK, you just said that if we don't add watermarks, then we don't value our images. LOL

i do value it, that's why i don't have any on there. they will take that image with or without the logo. it doesn't stop anyone. if anything your image will just be shorter, as they will crop it off. the watermark to me, is like adding ketchup to steak at a fancy restaurant. you don't add things that will hurt the flavor. not to mention it brands it FAA - and it's not like it has your name on it.

Keith,

You can only add the watermark to new uploads. Any previous uploads will require re-uploading. Let me know if you want Tech Support to add them for you on existing work.

Keith, anyone who would take a screenshot of your work wasn't going to buy it anyway. You haven't lost anything.

Keith Saint

Murray no need for them to have it for free
Sorry didn't mean you don't value what you do its just my opinion I don't intend any offence
I only asked the question how do I add the watermark to existing work but been lead down the path of why should I. So you get an opinion that's all.

Thank you Jeffery I would like that help thanks

No offense taken, and I didn't mean to offend, either. FAA display images are quite often taken without permission for blogs, wallpaper, and other 'nuisance' uses. Since it's rare for anyone to ever buy images for such uses from FAA artists, I have no problem with letting them have 'em. It takes too much time and effort to police everyone who nicks a pic, so I just feel it's better to choose my battles. I also feel that the FAA watermark is too intrusive, so I don't use it.

I think you've already gotten your answer about backdating watermarks. You can't, but maybe tech support can.

Keith,

You should be all set, I will close this now.
