Too Many Sites?

Perhaps its just me, but I'm confused with all of these different sites based around FAA, with the launch of the new Ipad app pointing towards pixels.com I'm left wondering if I'm actually on pixels.com automatically or if I have to opt in. If I remember correctly there is a separate site for large discount orders that we could opt in or out, I believe there is another site for digital downloads that I can opt in or out, so with pixels, opt in, out or not needed??
Would it not be better to consolidate all these sites into one so that the seller could concentrate on promoting that one site and let the seller decide to offer digital downloads or discounted large orders from it.
Where our Artist web site fits into all this as anyones guess, can I offer digital downloads from there?
Please lets get back to basics - one web site for all

All the products will be on Pixels and the premium site and the sites will be more separated (I believe) as things get added to them

FAA will be purely for the prints and cards.... anything that is added that is under a fine art label.

Phone cases and puzzles etc (to be added soon) are not under a fine art umbrella, as are not licences

It will take time but things will evolve and separate over time. Yes, it is slightly mixed at present but I think it will all come out in the wash

Thanks, Abbie........clarity!

will there be some kind of link on FAA telling customers that there are other products on pixels? because they won't know that. like - see on other products and click here. still even that is confusing.

Abbie, I don't understand why you say sites will become more separated with time, surely we want everything to merge under one site - perhaps keep with Pixels.com and forget the various FAA sites, easier for potential customers to find what they want and easier for the sellers to promote their goods.

I suspect the Pixels.com app introduced yesterday is a sign of what is to come, Paul, in fact, Sean said yesterday at the end of his announcement more to come soon. He has also said in the past and in media interviews that Pixels.com will be the main site. How everything else falls into place only he knows, and its best to not speculate but wait to see what he says. He has shown ( at least me ) that he has us artists in best interest, and so far what he has done with FAA is remarkable in my opinion. So lets wait an see.

Personally, I have for the past couple months linked all my referrals to Pixels. I only use artistwebsites for buyers who subscribe to my email campaigns. So far, no issues and FAA still comes up on Google/Yahoo/DuckDuckGo search on the first page.

And - will the phone cases be moved OFF of FAA.?

Why not just rename FAA "Pixels" and be done with it? The way it's being handled now is like someone slowly tugging on an band-aid glued to a hairy part of your body. Just Do It already!

One of the duplicate sites is going to have to go away in order for the other to flourish. Make a decision!

"All the products will be on Pixels and the premium site..."

That's good info to know. I've been wondering if I would be needing to change the site address link on my business cards next time I order them.

Seems that some must feel the the "America" part of the original name boxes one in, hence the desire for a new site name. But with any new name, it will require tons of branding before the general public (and members) come to understand what the new name is all about.

When you have name that says what it is like "Fine Art" then the challenge isn't as difficult. But any abstract name requires a lot of branding to sell it. Plus when the product mix is muddled with everything from phone cases to licensing, people are easily confused. Is it for professionals? Regular folks? Do I buy things for my home or my business? Do I need a purchase order and the guy from marketing to approve the purchase or do I just buy it with my credit card?

if FAA leaves - or is changed totally. all the links would be broken. all those years pushing things to here would have been a total waste of time, so the name would have to stay. i'm still confused why we need so many different sites for these things. its like you can get milk, eggs and cheese in this store, but to buy sauce, meat and soda, you need to go to the shop across the street.

Good points, Ed. And what about throwing commercial image licensing and cheap image merchandise into the same pot as Fine Art? Different worlds, different rules. The model invites legal skirmishes that are clearly preventable.

I am still confused about the distinction between Pixels and FAA. I get that Pixels will sell other products like puzzles and phone cases and that FAA will sell prints and cards. But doesn't Pixles sell prints as well?? Does Pixels have the same search engine ranking as FAA does? If I have an image that shows on page 1 of the FAA search results, will it show on page 1 of the Pixels site if the same term was used for the search criteria?
