Putting Photos On Pinterest

Thanks everyone for your help for Stumble. Now I need to know the best way to market my photos and others on Piinterest.

Hi Muriel, I just added one of your photos to my Pinterest Board called Fine Art America - Art & Photography.
I use this board to support others and I also put my work on it.

Thank you,
Kathleen Sartoris

Hi Muriel.. I recently closed my pinterest account for the simple reason that I did not want to risk breaching anyones copyright. When signing up for an account you automatically take full responsibility for any breaches that may occur.. and although it is fairly unlikely that any trouble will come of this, I preferred to err on the side of caution.. Here is a link to the article which caused me to reconsider pinterest..

Hey, Muriel
If you just want to market your own stuff and avoid the problem Barry is alluding to, you could create separate "Boards" for each category of your work, like the galleries you have here on FAA. Don't forget to use hashtag keywords in your description (like #tulip. #abstract) and seek publicly shared boards with larger built-in audiences so you can re-pin images to more than one Board -- including on your own account, like if you have "Favorite" or "Best Sellers" boards in addition to your normal categories.

Early on, I made the mistake of lumping all my photography on the same Board but now I've branched out a little and just have mostly cars on one and my oil-on-pavement shots on the other, but if I had it to do over again I would have started out with more categories. All my other photography Boards are shared.

I usually pin an image on its appropriate Board (I also do T-shirts apart from photography), then re-pin to "Advertise Anything", "Support Small Businesses", "Pinterest Bazaar 24/7" and a few other group boards. Hope this helps.

Thank you Kathleen for your help and your Pin.

Thanks Barry and Samuel. I'm going to follow your advice Samuel. I did put many of my photos on one board and i like the idea of category boards. I don't belong to Twitter...does that make a difference using hashtags?

I did the same thing as Barry. I had gotten sucked into the whole Pinterest scene for awhile (talk about a time-killer!), but eventually I realized that the whole site just encourages copyright infringement. I felt like it just wasn't right for me to participate in it, so I closed my account.

I do appreciate the negative feeds I get about Pinterest. Thank you Barry and Valerie. I will keep a lookout for the copyright infringement warning you talk about. I try everything to sell my photos. I was on Etsy for a while, and In one year I sold one print and decided it wasn't for me...especially because it cost me money every month and I had to do the printing and mailing myself. Definitely not worth it. I'll do the same thing with Stumble and Pinterest. If nothing happens in one year...goodbye!

OK, this may be a silly question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. I wanted to pin some of my photos so they link to my FAA page, but I noticed the Pinterest button is grayed out an I cannot use on my FAA pages. I looked in the settings and I cannot see where I opted to turn it off. Any ideas? Is this something FAA no longer offers or am I just not seeing it.

Thanks!!

Well, all the info here is very informative. I do not currently belong to Pinterest and been only considering it. Don't really need another time waster! However, in searching, I've found a few of my pics. from FAA pinned by others on their Pinterest site and do refer back to me on FAA. So far do not seem to be any infringement. I can see though that it could happen, just in case someone decides to make a copy of your art. Only anyone can do that anyway....from anywhere on the web! However the copies would be pretty small, if I am correct. So keep what you upload to a blog, fb or whatever, as small as you can.

What Samuel said above, Muriel! I created separate boards, about 10, each with different categories of my art & photography, even poetry! So far, so good. Good luck. I'm NOT a computer savvy person, but had NO trouble with my uploads or account. Best to add your images from your Artist Website. Just copy your description first, then click on the Pinterest link there...and you should be good to go!
