Here's one of mine, a Grand Canyon lizard placed on the rim of Meteor Crater. Not a macro, though:

This is a veiled chameleon. I have a leopard gecko that is a little on the skittish side but I'm going to try to get a close up head shot....

Although I think that strictly speaking a chameleon isn't a "lizard".... or is it?

Shelby Young

I am not sure, Jim. Does anyone else know? Maybe I should have just put "reptiles" as the title so it is less confusing :) haha

Samuel Sheats

Yes, chameleons are reptiles in general and lizards in particular. Jim's is a veiled chameleon like mine. These are "true" chameleons that not only can change color dramatically to match their mood or surroundings, they also have prehensile tails, long tongues they shoot out with lightning speed to catch prey and independently rotating eyes. A population of Jackson's chameleons (the ones with three horns like a triceratops) has been introduced into Hawaii; otherwise true chameleons only exist in the Old World, like Africa and Madagascar.

The little streamlined green or brown lizards we commonly call chameleons in the United States are technically anoles.

Best when viewed big... the only point in focus is the eye.

The best I can do is this green crested basilisk which I converted to black and white for a contest because of his "impossible" color LOL Then I liked how the bw brought out the textures of his skin and I kept the version.
