Welcome To Our Family.

The rules? No rules; just an expectation that we all "do unto others." In other words, if you want others to promote your work, you should do the same for them. Those of us who take a full part in promoting ourselves and others try to do so for a 24 hour period or longer if possible. That includes opening the Big Skip and promoting the images in there too.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND HOW WE DO THINGS HERE:

Please use the URL for your image postings, rather than the copy and paste code. Posting the photo itself, rather than a link will make it difficult for people who don't have high speed internet, as well it might cause people to skip over your post without promoting.

If you are posting nudes, or other questionable images, please post a warning notice with your link. There are children here, as well as adults who choose not to look at that type of image.
Please do not post links from your pixels.com account or any other FAA mirror site. It tends to create problems for some people and most will skip those links.

Our main page features are nominated and selected by our discussion group members, so please check out our nominations thread if you see something you think should be featured. ABSOLUTELY NO images of nudity, death, cruelty or violence of any kind on the main board, where you have no ability to post a warning.

Finally, JUST HAVE FUN!! This is an incredible group of people who will make you feel welcome from your first post!!

TO ALL NEWCOMERS: I realize that some of you are so new to not only the group, but to FAA, that I thought perhaps a little clarification is in order. I'm sure you've noticed that while we can't require anyone to vote/like anyone elses work, we do tend to treat people the way people treat others. But I also realized that you may not have a clue what we're talking about, so........... to "like" someone's work, you click on their blue link, which opens up that particular piece. In the upper right corner, you'll see a few little icons. One is a thumbs up, which is what you press to "like/vote" for that piece of art. Most of us here press that whether we love the work or not. It's how we help each other to move up in the FAA search standings (even though FAA now says it doesn't count for very much, but that's now past history and it is what it is). That's all we ask of you. Should you choose to do so however, you can also click on the little heart (which is to add a work to your own "favorites" list), and you'll also find buttons for the various social media sites if the artist chooses to activate any or all of those buttons. These are the ways we promote each other. You may also choose to vote/like your own submissions. It's perfectly acceptable to do so.

Just sharing for laughs, do not vote, look at the water mark it makes the bottom right corner appear to have a little creature poking its head out but it is the letter a over the tree bark. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/fall-at-night-tom-gari-gallery-three-photography.html

I have tons of notes but will have to catch up tomorrow after we make pickles. Art show was fun - got a lot of reaction to our work.. it was neat because both of ours were hung beside each other. I think we were all the artists in the show and few spectators. The exhibit goes on till Aug 9. Oldest came so we stayed up till 4:30 talking-had to be at work by9:30.. in zombie mode at the present!

Get well soon Lins!! Luv ya~

Welcome new folks! Please be sure to read the discussion directions especially the last paragraph... then have fun and join in.

another old one.Don't have much time when school is out, but managed to go back 24hrs. Had a swim meet this morning, cleaning this afternoon. Having 4 9yo girls over for a sleepover next weekend (after a larger party at the pool). Heading for the twin cities tomorrow; my wife has work, I'll be going round with the kids for 3 days.

Hi I'm back. Great trip, a bit of photography, but mostly about catching up with old friends for me. Only one day where LA really tugged on my heart - along PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy for you Jan - LOL I find myself talking in acronyms). A lot of driving and walking, although I did get a chance to take the metro into downtown. Pleasantly surprised at how it seemed much cleaner, safer down there and people were walking around. The metro is a great thing for the city - more people, unable to afford cars or afraid of driving into the city, are probably able to get out and explore the city, find better jobs, etc. - more people walking around = safety. I would have liked more time to spend with my friends there and more days to get to old haunts.

Congratulations on the new grandchild, Steven.
Catching part of the Art Wolfe right now (rerun?) - Thanks for the share Anne.
Congratulations on the sales.
Also came back to a small sale. http://fineartamerica.com/saleannouncement.html?id=d2b4876733df6d2c4dea125fee963fe6
This is the 2nd time this has sold, last time I was also taking a break around Christmas, so maybe I should just go away? ...but I would miss you all too much. Will be taking it a little lighter on promo and such the next week or so until after Maisie's surgery and recovery.
Welcome back Donnie and Ian, and welcome to all the new folk.

This image is my favorite of the limestone/chert homes. It is just down the road from my home and I would love to see it restored.

Joan---your image of the Jefferson Co. Courthouse clock tower brought back lots of memories for me. I worked in that courthouse for a number of years and for part of the time my office was directly below that striking clock. I had a wonderful view, but made it a point to be out of my office at 10 or 11 or 12 o'clock. :-)

Jan---have a wonderful time at the show!

Belinda---welcome back!

Tissues to all the folks with sales!

Lins---get well!

Hi Holly,

Welcome.

Not much you have to know. If you check out the opening post, it should explain things to you. Basically, what we do here is to at least click the "like" button for everyone who posts a link. Comments, social media, faves, etc. are purely optional, but always welcomed. The tricky part is to make sure you open the Big Skip way up above, so you get those that are in there as well. And that's it.

We're a lively and active group who have literally become family, and we're always happy to welcome new members of the clan.
