it's hard to critique since these are other people's images. artistically i don't understand any of them.

@MikeSavad you can try to read the description for them to help get a better understanding of each piece. If I were doing the critiquing, I would look at the piece, read the description and see how well I got that message across through said piece of art

Cool work, Julian. I would exaggerate the cut and paste aspects more. In other words, use torn, inexact edges more and smack 'em down out of scale and with less care. Possibly bigger moire patterns. Then rub some dirt into select portions. Avoid global textures.

The point of collages like these is to use objects out of context to make a statement. Individual pieces, styles and technique are downplayed in order to support a bigger unified concept.

Great start!

@DanTurner thanks Dan! Believe it or not, that critique was very helpful

Very good point Julian, and exactly what people are meant to do before critiquing.

Julian,

I agree with Dan

This certainly is a Great Start.

There is a vibrancy in your EYE

and a

Vibrancy in your MIND.

Don't allow others to dampen that vibrancy.

Keep at the way you are now going.

Eventually,words will not be necessary..

Your Eye and Hand will say it all.

yeah, except i shouldn't have to do that, i shouldn't need a subtext.

Some people just don't get ART Julian... I remember your first postings on the site... they showed promise.. This latest work you've posted realizes some of that promise.. Good stuff! I agree with Dan. Collage has a style of it's own which generally transcends any individual style the artist may have... But in this day and age, it can be hard to get that torn edge look from digital images :-) Keep up the great work and I wish you luck in your endeavours..

Edit: Mike...If you don't understand it and have nothing to offer..why post???

@Barry @Roger thanks for the encouraging words. They really do mean a lot to me

I like 'Waiting to Be Exploited", Julian. I was watching a video last night on how RFID chips are embedded in certain credit cards and how people can be exploited. It was the first thing I thought about after viewing your image. Well done!

This is superb!... I'm sure it will have a few folks squirming in their Gucci's.. :-)

@Jeffery thanks! I'm glad my work helped bring that back to your attention and @Barry yeah, that one's message is easier to identify. I wanted to get more complex with these last 6 pieces

Julian Hi! I think your work is very cool! My favorite is the power of branding...put a smile on my face! I can't offer a critique... but keep at it

I dig your creativity . Ain't for everybody, i.e. Mike, but hey art is suppose to create conversation and your work does Bits and pieces hopefully will connect with the viewer and bring them/us to a place of overstanding and new ideas. I didn't want to read your description before viewing the work, now I will. I wanted to get my ideas from the work first, ya dig?

Peace, O.

I agree with Dan's first response. I also love deconstruction and collage, had so much fun doing a degree unit on it earlier in the year. The initial visual impact is exciting. Well done.
