Paying For Premium??

Hello....
I haven't had my account long... I was waiting to see how the site works and how well, before paying for the upgrade but I seen last night that on the free account you can only upload 25 images. I was wondering every ones opinion on the free account versus the upgrade.

If you have more than 25 images to upload, the 30 dollars is well worth it. Back when I first joined, money was tighter for me than it is now, but I went ahead and did it and was lucky enough to get my first sale pretty quickly which then paid for the upgrade.

No doubt it's worth every penny!

Hi Tonji...I'm sticking with the free account for now... With a little bit of imagination you can squeeze quite a lot out of it. For example.. By having a collage of a series of work (10 images in one).. you can show what you've got "stored away" and offer the option of posting the full size images for sale at the buyers request.. by doing this you could offer 50 images and yet only use 5 of your allotted image spaces.. using the other 20 to offer full size shots of your work.. You could also rotate what you post in full size format on a monthly basis etc...
Just make sure your contact details and your methods are clearly displayed to potential customers... Good luck!

Good luck with that, Barry. I could be wrong, but that would seem to put a lot of work on the buyer when instead they could just click on the image they want and buy it.

if you only have 25 then it's fine being free. if you have a bunch more, then paying is the option. plus you get a private website. the more images the better your chances at a sale. however you should add more keywords either way.

buyers will not ask if you have more of something. it's not like asking for a shoe size and if you have more. they will look and move on if they don't like something. and if that one image is a collage - that's the thing for sale. they won't know there are more. ideally you can have as many free accounts as you want. but you have to keep track of them all.

any work you don't have don't have online, is not indexed by anything. it takes months before google and such will pick up on work anyway, you want it all in the water.

It's definitely well worth it. $30 for a whole year is nothing. Some people spend way more than that on their coffee and cigarettes for the whole year. Why not put that money toward something constructive. Try it for yourself and see if you like it. If you end up not liking it, $30 won't kill you.

Thanks Joe..I may need it.. :-)

Mike.. As stated in my op. the idea is to make it clear within the description or biog area exactly how the customer can go about getting a piece they want.. I believe if they see something they really want..they wont mind interacting with the artist to get it! It's not perfect.. but it is a way to squeeze more out of a single free account which I have seen working..(not for me but another user). A number of free accounts would be better..but then probably just as well paying the $30 by this stage..

Personally.. I'm just refusing to commit until I've had plenty of time to really get to know the site.. so far it's looking good. I most probably will upgrade before the year is out!

they won't contact you. people want it NOW, they don't want to go through with asking to see other things. and as said - google won't know your there either.

Thank you everyone! And another question I have is... would it be better to put a biograhy part or do the customers really care?. Thank you Mike Savad on the tip to add more key words...

I don't think potential buyers care either way too much about the bio, so I kept mine short. A short bio to me looks better than "Biography coming soon." A long bio probably will not be read.

always have a bio, but keep it to the point, don't share your medical record, life story, family life, social life or that you just started, really need the money or stuff like that. tell people what you make. google finds this as well and gets people to your page. don't link out - like saying - please friend me on facebook. not only do they leave and not come back, but it looks lame (i've seen this so many times)

don't call a gallery "playing around" just call it "illustrations" or something, it sounds more professional.

A short bio can add a bit of credibility to your work - just keep it short. Remember that the Internet is a "visual" medium.
