Wildfire Kelowna Bc - Evacuation Order

2500 Residents are evacuated from their homes in West Kelowna as wildfires threaten. The smoke is so thick and the air quality is poor sending some to the hospital. We are even getting smoked out here in Grand Forks, a couple hundred of miles away... however some of the smoke here is from fires burning in Washington State. The forests are extremely dry and lightening is setting off new fires in the province daily.... I thought I would share this with you all, so you can send your thoughts and prayers to the residents of Kelowna and to all those brave men and women who are fighting the fires throughout our province of BC and in the state of Washington.

The fires in Wa are awful, the smoke is being carried e n e it looks like the twilight zone outside. Really feel bad for all the people fighting them and those being evacuated.

The smoke has been bad in Edmonton for a few days but we had some good moisture yesterday. Wish we could send some rain your way. take care.

The fires in B.C. and Washington are terrible this year. We're supposed to get rain starting today or tomorrow here on the coast of B.C. so I hope it rains enough to turn it around for these areas. My thoughts are with those who are affected.

Years ago it was particularly bad in B.C. and although there weren't any fires on the Sunshine Coast, we could still see the effects. During the evening the sky would turn grey and the sun was a blazing red when it was setting. It was a startling and scary sight and made me realize how vulnerable we all are.

We have had lots of smoke too. The weatherman keeps forecasting rain and then day by day the forecast changes to sun. This is a picture my nephew posted today about the fire in Kelowna. He didn't tell me how close he lives to where he took this picture. I hope everyone stays safe.
