Hi Kelly,

Ironically, Nov 2013 is when I noticed things slowing down. Keep plugging away, and find, drag, and push clients to your Artistwebsites.com page. It's much less competition.

Not really as of late.
In going thru your work, you don't have a lot of keywords.
Are you marketing yourself?

No, not in over a year. I've sold 4 images, 3 of which I brought in the buyers. FAA does not recognize the majority of artists here. We have to bring in the buyers. I am not complaining just simply stating a fact. Correct me if I am wrong.

Really great work Kelly. Another mystery of who sells and who does not and why.

But, no. FAA is not going to promote you or your gallery. This is up to you do for yourself.

There a dozen (more than actually) threads asking the same question. You may want to search them and see what is being said and some of the suggestions.

I have seen a gradual increase in sales. July 2014 has been my best month so far and it's only the 17th!!!

Hello Kelly

Take a walk around the block avoiding all cracks between the paving stones.

That might bring you luck.

It did not work for me but it might work for you.

Last November was my best month here ever. I got very slow in early spring, but things are picking up again and I'm selling a few prints a week.

Make sure all your images have titles and complete keywords, it helps people find you when they search. Also you have to promote your work yourself - this is a place to show and sell, but Fine Art America doesn't market for you.

I agree with Jeffery about the slowing down around November, I sell regularly/monthly but not like before November, can't say why things slowed down so much ,has been strange, hope it perks up soon

Nov 2013 is when my stuff started moving (after about 2-3 years of work). June-early July have been good. Very slow lately, everyone is on vacation.

Make a plan and work toward it. Set a goal of this holiday season to sell some art.

Don't waste all your time trying to sell to other artists here on FAA. Get out of the bubble and engage your public.

I've tried everything, but have had more luck selling in person than on any site. I've got a new batch I am about to put up for sale, and see how that works here in Houston.
But as others that have had luck, use the Key words, market, and push them.

I'd make this thread private. No need to air out our sales or lack thereof in public view.

you have to market and advertise yourself. i've been selling ok for the last week or so, it started to pick up again. while i can blame the congress shutdwown for messed up sales, everyone has to do their part in creating new work, and advertising that work.

As Jeffrey says - market off FAA and drive customers to your AW site. I put NO faith in groups, keywords, contests, or FAA search. To sell - you gotta go out and beat the bushes - email, business cards with a link on it, tell everyone you know and ask them to tell their friends. Many folks say a blog works - or a slide show put on youtube - twitter - and even flickr (remember NOT to use full size images - size them down to 72mg - they'll still show up large).

On here, pretty much the same as last year. Overall though, so far this year has been pretty good for me. You just have to keep building yourself up. Success is a process. Keep working, step by step, day by day.

Your viewing figures are very low so you have to push out your work more. The ratio between viewings and sales is non-existent however. I managed for this weeks total to get 5000+ more views, which was 1000 up from last weeks total. But it is very rare for me to sell anything. I have the third highest views out of the contributors on this thread.

Try and organize you work into galleries and promote the galleries. Your work is varied, which is good but it is helpful to have subjects or styles that help define you and your work. I try and target my marketing using Facebook, twitter, youtube, G+ and classified ads. I also promote on site with contests and groups. I market both my AW and my FAA site. I get a lot of sales through keyword searches, although for common keywords you will be lost. Sponsoring keywords is one way to get out front in the search.

Word is that sales are falling fast but there may be hope in the licensing and interior decorator programs. Phone cases too.

Only one for sale here in over a year, doing intense marketing on facebook and twitter. So I decided to open an account on Zenfolio, promoting that site and things are better. I think because it's more oriented to the european market with lower shipping costs

I sure would like to be able to explain why I have sudden "dead spells". I will go along and sell several a month for months in a row and then it suddenly comes to a screeching halt, almost as if I have disappeared from view, dropped off the face of the earth --- and it may last anywhere form a month to 2 months. I do not alter my marketing, and continue to upload new images. I have seen other artists who routinely sell mention "dry spells" in forum threads. What is strange is that during that same time some are reporting these dry spells, other are reporting it is their best month. It does not make any sense.....
