If You Like Asheville...

In the "where are you from" thread I was surprised how many people are from, have visited, or want to come to Asheville, North Carolina. It is gorgeous country with incredible food, entertainment, artists, and culture, so I shouldn't be too surprised, I guess. I have recently been creating a lot of art from just in this little (80,000 is little compared to NY, LA, Chicago, or Phoenix) town. If you want to see a neat little slide show of my art set to Mountain Dulcimer music by my (almost 80 yr old) friend, Ginny Mannina, click here. I absolutely LOVE living here.

Great video. I have to add Asheville to my roadtrip I have planned that I never do. I first learned of it when I was young and studying landscape archtecture and Frederick law Olmstead.
Right now I am in a duo with a guy who won the Piedmont blues preservation society's competition in 2012. I also play with 2 others form N.C.
My mom visited Asheville twice in the past few years. I have her pictures because one a year I grab her SD card and download all her photos.
I loved the music. If I go I might not want to leave.

Love your art! Add me to the list of people who've been to Asheville and would love to call it home. I believe one of my favorite abstract artists lives there; Jonas Gerard. I'd like to see him paint one day.

Thanks for sharing, John.

My sister met Jonas Gerard the last time she visited Asheville and she brought me a brochure from his gallery.

I saw Jonas downtown Friday night. My best friend has purchased several things from him. I have been to his painting demonstrations. Jonas is a great artist and a great human being. :)

I thought Asheville has a great vibe. I've been there several times, reminds me somewhat of Missoula Montana or about anyplace up in Vermont :)) Love your artwork, really captures the essence and spirit

I prefer Bravard but usually pay Ashville an annual visit.

I was supposed to go to Asheville yesterday, but decided to stay home. In two weeks, the Blue Ridge Southern Railroad starts operating 91 miles of what is now Norfolk Southern Railway track and I wanted to catch some trains before that date. I will either do it this weekend or miss out. All kinds of reasons to go to Asheville, I suppose.
