Weekly Suggestion For The Week 7-7-2014

Weekly Suggestion For The Week 7-7-2014

This is not an image/artwork posting thread please DO NOT add those here.

Abbie's rules apply....Limit ''ONE'' Suggestion per person per week.
If you add more than that per week it will not be sent in. (Per Abbie's request).

Once a week's thread closes I email Abbie the list. This thread is for her, it is not
my thread. I am just a helper to get the list to her on or about once a week.

Please ''DO NOT'' disrespect the owner (Sean) in this thread. These are Suggestions and NOT Demands.

Running list of things that will ''NOT'' be changing

The ''BIG SKIP'' is staying.

The ''Image Size'' on the the ''Artist Website'' will be not changing.

Replies to other suggestions:

Concerning the Artist Website matching the other site options
That is the point of the premium account that it is different.
(This is in reply to a request to make the AW site look the
same as FAA Pixels and Designer Prints profiles.)

For The Originals option on the uploads just leave that info blank if you do not sell originals.

To have a tab just and purely for image share posts that are not seen on the main forum so we don't get inundated by them... Even though there are groups just for this purpose

Allow us the option to hide tabs and/or buttons so an artist can have a more client friendly portfolio.

Meaning when one goes to my FAA profile, I want to hide these tabs: Favorites, Following, Groups, Contests and Press if we have none. Clients don't care what I'm doing with those tabs nor should they have to look through all the tabs to get to About; which is after all the nonsense.

On my AW I want to hide these buttons: Comment, Favorites, and Watch. I don't wish to upset/discourage a customer, by them getting a Sign in or Up for FAA window. That also takes them away from my site where I want to keep customers to shop/buy. If a Wish List is added, I'd like them to be visible.

Please return Comments , ALL comments at the Artwork page where Visitors see them, the limit of only 50 comments damages me, and FAA.
If trying to save bandwidth, remove View All Comments from Activity Stream instead....After fair notice to Members !

if someone buys our product - and leaves a review on it, i'd really like to know about it. i think it would be a good selling point for a blog or something. right now its a jumble and i have to remind myself that it's there.

Sorry I'm new and just finding my way around... I just realized yesterday, that my AW is non-responsive. Oh my, not good....Not good at all.

Trust me, I'm painfully aware what a pain in the butt it is to make a website responsive! But when a client goes to my AW on a smaller screen than my 27" iMac, it looks unprofessional and very amateurish for it not to be responsive. Especially in this high tech era. Please, please make our AW's responsive as soon as you can.

Here is a screenshot of an image of mine on Safari (FAA) and FireFox (AW) browsers shrunk down. Faa is responsive, AW is non-responsive

http://fineartamerica.com/featured/responsive-non-responsive-prints-of-italy.html

Honestly, I wish I had the option to disable the AW, cuz there's more that I dislike than like about it. I would be perfectly fine with paying the $30 and not having an AW until changes can be made. Or at the very least have a way to redirect the AW to FAA. Hope FAA/AW will give me one of those options asap. I truly don't want the AW to come up in search engines, as that site reflects on me as a professional or should I say amateur...

I mean no offense to anyone. This is my career were speaking about here after all. For now, I will remove the AW from my PrintsofItaly.com coming soon page and stop using links to it.

a more user friendly mobile interface for artists. perhaps an app of the android persuasion.

In contests, it would be nice to have an option where FAA will tell you via e-mail or the activity log when a contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. This would help when one may wish to vote in a contest they have not entered any images since I'm not aware of any way to join a contest without entering. This would also help for one contest admins forget to remind is via e-mail or, as some often do, forget to tell which contest is now open for voting.

If only 50 comments are going to be allowed to be displayed could the artist pick his/her top 50 comments that they want displayed instead of the most recent ones?

Can the shopping cart be fixed so that the shopper can leave some items in the cart and check out just some of the cart. This will help those who are shipping to multiple addresses or for different clients or for just don't want to check out all of it right now. If they could just uncheck some items so they are not checked or move them to a wish list that will be easier than having to pick out art, the mat and the frame again. This is how most sites work and is what shoppers expect. No one should ever have their cart dumped by the store.

Having the ability to set up multiple pricing profiles would be a very useful feature to differentiate offerings.

For example, I'd like to have my large format photographs set at a different default pricing level than my digital photographs without having to do bulk edits, which requires manual update every time I upload a new image.

1. Please remove the buttons half-way through checking out: 1. Upload your own image and 2. Upload from Instagram. This could potentially distract a customer so much that they never return as one option is taking them to sign into the Instagram account.

2. An option for the artist to give away a screensaver or promotional slide show etc. I think a customized screensaver/slideshow that is downloadable and doubles as a marketing tool.

I agree with, Abbie: “To have a tab just and purely for image share posts that are not seen on the main forum so we don't get inundated by them... Even though there are groups just for this purpose”.

Yet I would also like to see another tab here to differentiate what seems to be a new trend here---well new for me anyway. I have only been here on FAA for just over six months---That of what I call, hot button topics...eg....gun control, neurasthenia, ect.

I agree with Mike. Reviews are essential for online sales.

@Mike regarding your comment:

When you say that you have to remind yourself that the review is there, where do you look for it? I'd love to be able to see my reviews. All I can see are comments - mostly spammy "congratulations on your sale" comments.

and there is no way to search all of those for any of your own work. and i don't hang out there because i don't like seeing other's get sales.

I would like to see custom home pages like this: http://www.haldanecreativeart.com/ where one can have a slide show with music, large images, etc. It is probably way too much work for Sean, but it would make better first impressions for visitors, IMO.

Thanks Mike! I had no idea that link existed.
