Does this mean that any current images threads will be closed at that time?

Current ones will remain with what is called 'grandfather rights'

After chatting to various members we are not keeping existing threads open bar one which can run through monthly

OK cause some will add the same images to all 3 to the generic image threads bumping

them all up at once with those same images. Just wondered if that was going to stop.

All right! I can now open a thread for Snail Darters and Three toed toads only. All toads with for toes will be eliminated. Toads with two toes may be considered on a case by case basis.

I think new image threads should be approved for posting with clear criteria that doesn't overlap with another open image thread. In other words, "post your latest three uploaded images" isn't a suitable topic for an image thread. Post your railroad images or post images of birds would be acceptable.

As the threads will only be open a week will it matter what size the images are?

Rich 1 thread for an artist and only 4 threads per week

So, if one artist puts up three ideas, they will only be allowed one of those in a weeks period

If five artists put up one idea each, only four will be published

1 thread per artist
4 threads total per week

We should get some great discussions around those topics and some brilliant images then

NOBODY has contacted me wanting to run an image thread so far so looks like nobody wants them anyway LOL

How did you distinguish between grandfathered threads that remain open....which are images/only...and the closure of existing image threads, which are not grandfathered? I mean, what makes old,old image only threads qualified as 'grandfathered? Thanks for insight.

I have decided after chatting to quite a few members (especially the older ones) that we WILL be closing most of the other threads also and concentrating on new ones to give everyone a fresh chance

I realise we cannot please all of the people all of the time but this is part of our compromise

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing new images, with discussions, on the main board

I am also hoping that we get some unique ideas come forward because of this. Time will tell

Edit after closure....I hope not because of me,Abbie. I made sensible suggestions. Closing This is no way to look at issues about this solution to No More Image Threads policy.





Thanks for that,Abbie. I was surprised the Painters thread closed. I find this FAA need for image threads to be discussion-orientated a tough call, and might prove your noticing lack of interest the very thing nay-Sayers you chatted to, will be happy to see as the outcome....less image threads! !

Themed threads, by their very title imply images to suit the theme, and not needing further discussion,, but discussion is required? to survive their closure.?
Images speak for themselves in themed threads!
None of this new "allowed" after applying feels very free....rather, this seems to choke free flow....IMHO only. Of course....I could be wrong.
Things certainly are changing here, for Artists trying to be found , share, sell....a few weeks "chance" per new 'approved' themed thread is, well, stressful, and very controlled, and I don't see these short-term threads that close so soon of any sustained use. They disappear off page 1 ....yes, more variety to revitalise forum, so I hope there will at least be a Directory of Themed Threads...to consult...or they're just gone!
Themed Threads was the compromise.
Little did I think...discussion would be required. Little did I think they would arbitrarily be short-lived, and un findable once closed due to no indexing them for reference.
Just my opinion.

I'd like the theme"spacetime wonders". Has someone already held a similar thread? It may have room for space art, abstract/surrealist pieces, digital or photographic effects, swirls and paradoxes of all sorts.

Abbie - perhaps you should post a "new" discussion thread on signing up. This one is OLD and has a lot of "questions" at the top before it explains what needs to be done for themed threads.

After my trip I just got back from, I would like to do one on coastal sunsets. I know we have a lot of people that have some beautiful work in this area.

Coastal sunsets; sunsets either over the ocean, through a harbor of boats, or from the water (as in on a boat) looking back on the coast..
