Hello :)

As in life as with our art, we have to work hard at what we want.

Here is a great post on the forum about marketing your work http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=1601966

JC Findley and I run the forum and you are welcome to contact us in private with any problems. We do not give advice via personal messaging

http://fineartamerica.com/discussions.html?tab=permanentdiscussions are some help and useful links and the forum rules are there also. Please take the time to read through them. They are short and easy to follow :)

the best way to get views is to advertise. no one will know your here otherwise.

in your images you'll want a description, along with a location and far more words. i suggest you get an avatar where your back isn't facing us, and you fill in the frame more.

Art Prints
he's cute and should sell, but it's so small you can only print it, well small. not many buy a 10" print, they like them larger. but you can't enlarge this to fill the sizes. if you have a larger of this i would post that. you need more keywords. simply calling it baby bunny rabbit as a phrase - will lessen your chances of being seen.

bunnies, bunny, easter, easter bunny, baby bunny, rabbit, rabbits, baby rabbit, baby rabbits, grey, hair, hare, gray, gray hair, gray hare, face, cute, spring, etc - will get far more results. add the plurals, the search doesn't know from them.

Leanne,

If, as you say in your bio, that you want to keep this as a hobby then fine. If on the other hand you want people to see your images, then you need to work on your keywording, a LOT! When people do a search, they search by keywords and if you don't have the right keywords, then you'll NEVER be seen. Really up to you. Any flower you have, you need to know the name of the flower, latin name will help and any common names that go with that flower.

The largest catagory here on FAA, is "flowers", maybe millions,so be realistic about selling images here when the competion is so strong.

Good Luck and Welcome!

Rich

Hi, Leanne -- welcome to FAA! :-)

Welcome. Here's my tip sheet of basic FAA things to do. I made it for a friend who had been on for years but never learned the FAA system.

1) Organize your work into galleries such as "Cuteness Personified", "Abstract and Colorful"
and whatever other categories would make viewing more user-friendly and manageable to the customer.

2) Have galleries come up first on your site when people log in so they can see what they want to see. If they go through too many images they don’t want, they will stop before they get to the one that might have made them order.

3) Have a set of generic key words available in Word on desktop to add to all images, such as:
(when art work is uploaded you can add your name and anything that will apply to all as a tag/metatag)
passionate, bright, colorful, vivid, acrylic, home, travel, decorative, your name
trees, flowers,critter.
Copy applicable sets of words from your word doc to make it easier to add these in and add things into the descriptions after things are grouped in galleries..

4) Add wording in all descriptions such as:

‘If you like this image, we invite you to use any of the buttons (i.e. FB, Twitter, and Google+) to share with your friends and family! Please also join our Email List to see newly posted artwork. ‘
You must add descriptions before you join groups.

5) Add at bottom of Bio if not already or add at bottom of each description.
A) This artwork is owned solely by the artist and as such is protected by U.S. and international copyright laws, all rights reserved. This artwork may not be copied, reproduced, manipulated or used in any way without written permission.
B) The Fine Art America watermark will not be present on the purchased image sent to you.
C) list of any other art web sites where your work can be found (see #14)

6) Join appropriate groups such as “female artists”, “art with over 100 views” and groups in which artists with works similar to yours have been featured.

Have a system to keep up with one a month or one a day submission groups.

7) Check your visitor count and submit works with over 100/200/500 visits to the over 100 Views, 200 Club, 500 group, etc

8) Once a work has been featured in one group, submit it to Featured on FAA for additional exposure,

9) Protocol to be nice. When someone gives you a feature, (or fave, tweet, other favor), thank them two ways:

a) in that group’s discussion forum with wording such as “Thank you very much for the honor of the feature of my work on your great looking feature page. Your support and your work for our group are appreciated!!” Don't open a separate discussion if there is already a thank you discussion thread to use. You can include the URL in case anyone looks through the thread. That's just basic manners, doesn't do much for anyone.

b) Preferably- visit their works and give them a comment, and promote (hit the like button on whichever of theirs you like best that day, comment, favorite, social media promotion)

10) Find contests under Community tab. Enter appropriate contests. Follow them on the contests tab * under your profile to know when to vote. When voting begins, vote for your own works, then check other images and vote for at least one or 2 standouts if you have time --up to the vote limit. Usually the contest will be by a group you are a member of, so you need to support fellow group members. Some groups remove people for inactivity or lack of support; just submitting your own stuff isn’t enough.
. (*Once you are logged into your account, simply click on your name at the top of any page to go to your profile page. Once there you will see the following tabs:
Images Galleries Events Blogs Favorites Watch List Groups Press Contests
Once you click on the Contests tab, you will have easy access to all the contests you are participating in at any given time.)

11) Choose works to run on Timed promotion section. Try to always have the max # running.

12) Use the press release button whenever you have an event, win an award, etc

13) check community discussions on Art Promotion and Marketing or other topics of interest for more tips.

14) social networking/other art sites, other FB sites. There are at least 18 decent options to look into and then you have the option to list all that are running under your bio.

That'll keep you busy for a few hours. If something in this list is something you're already doing, pardon me, I didn't have time to review your site. I'm still behind due to family members health, personal business issues, camera problems....
