New Twitter Profiles

Did you see your new Twitter profile? I have to go make a new banner to fit.

We can also pin on of our tweets to the top now.

is that something you have to turn on? mine is still the old way.

There's a big banner at the top of my page suggesting I try the new format. When I briefly did try it, the background I was using disappeared so I turned it back off.

Mike - I think you just have to click on Me to see the invitation to use the new one.

Joann Vitali

Same thing happened to me about the background. Had to upload through a different site that's tied to twitter, then worked fine.

Andee Design

It should pop up and ask when it is available to you. You can say not yet for now tho.

Greg Jackson

Just checked mine, and it's still the older version.

Andee Design

They give you the numbers for the new header and it still crops off some. Wish they would have given the crop measurements.

Andee Design

I wonder why they're doing a few at a time? Unless it is to keep it from crashing.

Dan Richards

I just changed mine. I my fractal "Dementia" as my header.

Andee Design

Well the new banner size is 1500 x 500 if you want to work on it while you wait

that way you will have on ready. I got a new one up but will change it later...maybe...

Dan Carmichael

Interesting. They must be rolling it out in stages. I got my notification a while back and finally got around to creating the new header last week.

I have no sign of this on my twitter site. Don't they love me anymore?

Conor O'Brien

They started testing this new design a couple months ago. The general feedback was good so they are rolling out the new design to everybody gradually.

There is nothing you can do to get the new design, you just have to wait for option to come to you. I am still waiting for this opportunity too.

Dan were you on of the group of testers? I know I saw it on TV that it was to resemble FB

I think they said and I saw only one person that was a new follower with it. So maybe they

were a tester too. Not sure why I have it now. I am normally the last on the play list for things.

Greg Norrell

@Andee - can you see if it's possible to turn off the new format after you've turned it on?
I opted for 'not now' since it appeared to lose my previous background. I might experiment and see if I can add the background back.

Liane Wright

Very Cool, I changed mine too!

Andee Design

Greg I see no way to reverse it. In fact my new header is gone and it is solid red.

So they must be having issues. I wondered that before I optd in but opted in anyway.

Edit I replaced my header...again... I hope it sticks. I did the submit every time too.

Andee Design

I am glad to see a member since under the avatar I wondered when I

joined and could not recall...If it was there before I never saw it...lol

Greg Norrell

Thanks Andee.

BTW, your page looks awesome!

Andee Design

You are welcome. And that is so kind of you to say! I may rework the photos later when I

remember others I would rather use. But when I opted in I had to get them together fast.

So do you not see a way to go ahead since you opted not yet or do you get asked each

time. Google use to do that I refused. I did not want a page of my images as a header.

But once they made it smaller I gave in and used the old one I had on Twitter.

Andee Design

Greg I could never get my page to add a photo to it for months. Your current page is beautiful

Not sure I would want to change that. Not sure if we have a background option now or not.

Greg Norrell

It keeps asking me to turn it on. I may at some point, but I like having my background with trees along the edges.

Thank you :)

Andee Design

Well then just do like I did with G+ and ignore it...lol

It is really pretty so I would keep it as long as they let you!

Ifourdezign -

LOL Consider me an ungrateful twitter user then 'cause - my 'art/design' twitter account keeps offering it to me and I keep declining it!

I personally don't want it, and I'm fed up of them trying to turn it into Facebook! - (I hate change! :D) - plus I use my background space for advertising purposes, not that anyone else other than I see's it.

- My generic say WTF I like and gob off account is much older, but I haven't been offered it there as yet! I think I've been on Twitter far too many years to worry about it's benefits in that way anymore. :D Still that's my loss no one else's.

Menega Sabidussi

saw this thread yesterday (thanks Andee!) but only got my new layout today, i like it!
https://twitter.com/MenegaSabidussi
wondering about the font sizes though, first the font size in the individual postings was huge, now i posted another new image and suddenly the font size is smaller? anyone have an idea how that came about?

Hermes Fine Art

VERY annoying that the dimensions aren't accurate. I've been re-sizing for 45 minutes to compensate for the way Twitter crops the header. They tell us 1500 x 500, some bloggers suggest 1525 x 626; neither one is right.
I think it's time to move onto more important things. Have a look if you're interested in understanding what I'm talking about. https://twitter.com/CinnamonHH (the hummingbird and the horses in particular)

Andee Design

Ifourdezign - I find change hard too. but I went with this one. I love the option to pin my

fav tweet at the top! We still have that background page I found it on mine. Evn tho I

can not get mine to change I have been trying for months.

You are welcome Menega.

Heidi I think it is short on all sides vertical and horizontal. They really do need to

give us the right dimensions tho. What is the point to give us the wrong ones?

Andee Design

Well I reworked mine a few times. They definitely have the ratio wrong. They

need to update that with the correct one. What I have now will have to do.

Anyone else opt in yet and redo their header?

Roz Abellera

I don't like the way it looks. I'm keeping mine the old way.

--Roz Abellera

Hermes Fine Art

Update: If anyone does decide to upgrade (or whatever you'd prefer to call it), I found that placing art on a rectangle works best. In other words, don't bleed your art to the edges of the (alleged) 1500 x 500 banner. Give your art some room to breathe. Mine is still wonky, but I can live with it for now.

Also different screens and devices will display your banner completely different, but that's the time we live in :)

Joann Vitali

I just finished mine but yea, the dimensions are off and very frustrating to get the image right.

Judy Kay

I kinda like the new format... https://twitter.com/JudyKayArt

Mike Savad

i finally got the note to turn it on, only now i can't turn it off, it won't let me. and i'm wondering if i turn it off, will others see me as small or large? i don't like the thought of giving a larger background ground graphic. and i don't see much advantage over the old twitter. its larger and more facebook like, that's about it.

---Mike Savad

Mike Savad

wow that was a pain in the neck. while one site said what size to use, it is really screen dependent and i'm hoping my name isn't cut off. it's really user unfriendly making a banner for that. it took me like 6 tries.

Andee Design

Did anyone notice the change in font color depending on your header or what solid

color is under the banner you see before the image is in full view. Mine is red. Joanns

is black I think because her avatar is B&W and the font on Judy's is purples. Mikes

is a lighter blue...Intresting. Links and hashtags I think is what has the color in the font.

I think it has something to do with the avatar...although not sure how it gets blue from Mikes.

Andee Design

OK I have seen other BW avatars on Twitter and they do not have only Black fonts.

I wonder now how they choose on some? Or is there a way we change out fonts

ourselves? Anyone know? I have seen some yellow orange font too.

Mike Savad

https://twitter.com/settings/design

my theme color is blue - i never changed it, yours must be set to red for some reason.

---Mike Savad

Andee Design

Mike on that page does it show yours as blue? It will not let me change anything in that page.

That page would not let me change anything for months. Not matter what browser I was on.

Andee Design

One artist's font...the part that changes color is so light that you can not hardly read it...the part

that changes with is the hashtags and links. They has a B&W avatar with a lot of light grey in it.

So something has to be avatar related but that is not good to have colors that are so light show

up in someones page they cannot be read. I hope they let us adjust those so they are not invisible.

Mike Savad

i never played with it. you would need the code i guess to change it to the shade you want.

you can click the color, say done, hit save and you could turn your text to a blinding purple like i did mine a second ago. however it makes the image location that color too, which was blinding.

---Mike Savad

Darice Machel McGuire

I updated mine yesterday. I like the new look. https://twitter.com/DariceMachel

Andee Design

Darice did you choose the text color you have or did it just change to that? It seems to match your header really nice!

Hermes Fine Art

Andee, are you not able to see "Theme Color" at the bottom of your profile box when you're in "Edit profile"? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're talking about. That happens a lot with me lol

Sharon Popek

I've got my new profile set up!
https://twitter.com/fridap

Andee Design

Heidi I see it but have been unsuccessful in changing them for months. Nothing

in that area will change and I tried different browsers. Not sure what the deal is

Hermes Fine Art

Well that's too bad. It's odd because as popular as Twitter is, they have always had problems with basic issues like design and set-up.

Andee Design

Thanks Heidi. And Twitter is my fav of the Social media for my art promotions.

Darice Machel McGuire

Andee, I changed the color to match.

Andee Design

Thanks Darice. I hope that others are able to if they want. I wish I could adjust those colors.

Twitter is hard to get a live person for issues so I am stuck for now. If it was like the

members with the ones that are invisible I would be contacting Twitter. I still may.

Judy Kay

Andee, the red font works nicely with your cover image...but you can change it if you prefer something else by going behind the scenes in the design area...There should be a slider that lets you pick which color you want to use...I may change the purple ...it coordinates with the cover but...I am "iffy" about it!

Andee Design

Jody so far that will not work for me not sure why. And I have tried several

browsers and yet it stays as to what it is. Thankfully it is visible.

Andee Design

I spoke too soon it finally worked I changed it to blue and it worked!

Judy I love the purple but I understand folks not wanting to use it

for a more broader appeal for a user to site thing.

Andee Design

Changed it back to the red for a bit to make sure I could change it again.

Judy Kay

I changed it to teal...https://twitter.com/JudyKayArt
The color is a little weak...I am disappointed in the slider color chart..Initially, .I selected a deep purple which showed up in slider as such..but when I hit submit and check the profile page, the color is not what I selected...it is much lighter...Same with the teal...I really wanted a little deeper shade...Oh well! I do like the new format...The red looks great Andee!

Andee Design

Thanks Judy. That teal goes well with your avatar! Did you try making the

slider go down a little more to get a darker shade of teal that you wanted?

Andee Design

I also like that you can click on the followers/or those you follow tab and pull them all up

and see who have changed or not. The ones that have not have a solid color behind them.
