Isolation Coat

im planning to varnish some of my paintings and i want it matte or satin, so i did research and some recommended only do 2 coats maximum for matte or satin varnish or else it will be cloudy. and also isolation coat should be apply first!- but isolation coat also has gloss, satin and matte finish. so my question is what type/finish of isolation coat should i apply. i mean what if i apply 2 coats of isolation coat 'matte' + 2 coats of varnish 'matte'..= total of 4 coats of matte.. or should i just put 2 coats of gloss isolation coat + 2 coats of matte varnish? any suggestion would be very helpful.

Argie, you may need to wait a few hours for more people/painters to see your question but I'm sure some will be along to offer suggestions :o)

I would spray the gloss isolation coat then the matte. Best to use a spray gun and compressor as brushing leaves overlaps.
