Posting Photos To Wordpress, Blogger And L J.

If you use Flickr photo sharing to post to the blog platforms in my subject title, it looks like Flickr is partnering with Tumblr, Twitter, and Pinterest with attribution.

" we are announcing that we are deprecating the support for our built-in sharing options for Wordpress, Blogger and LiveJournal on 3/25. Deprecating features is never an easy decision, but we have seen that all of these services combined are now adding up to less than one percent of daily share volume from Flickr. "

An interesting statement about Flickr attribution ( from the link provided in the OP to the link below ) " (FYI, I found that since I turned sharing *on* here, enabling sharing to Tumblr, the number of improperly-posted photos of mine on Tumblr has plummeted. Everything I find there now is properly sourced and linked from here.) "

It would be nice if FAA did this with our artwork here???

Are you saying Flickr gives credit as to who the artist is and FAA doesn't on the social media mentioned? Where is "here?" I've recently been uploading there.

Thanks Suzanne. Flickr provides attribution when pictures are shared ( or downloaded and shared ) by people, and I was suggesting that FAA should do the same with our artwork here on the FAA site.

In other words, if I understand it right, when a person moves a picture from my Flickr site ( for example ) and posts it on especially Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest .... the persons viewing it can click on it and it will take them back to my Flickr site ... no matter who's site they find my picture and click on it.

Is that more clear? There are a few threads here where artists claim more of their images are taken from the FAA site than others, if I understand it right.

Thanks Frank for the explanation, I have noticed whenever I click on any Flickr image where ever it is it always takes me back to that person's Flickr photo stream, nice. Flickr is one of the big boys I wonder how difficult that is to program? What is the reason for images taken more from FAA, how that that relate to Flickr's type of attribution?

I haven't a clue as to what I'm doing on Flickr - except uploading images that I've watermarked with my AW www address. Flickr site
I have 4 flickr accounts - from back when you had to pay if you had more than 30 or so images. I've decided to just use this one - for my FAA stuff - but since I can't find the originals of the other albums, from the original uploads - I'll just leave them there as well.

I'm there just in case someone does a search, I'm not sending anyone there at this time but I may at some point.

Roy - you can download the images from the other accounts in full resolution. I don't know if you have the bata version or not, but find the link for " View all sizes " and then download the original size. You can then upload them all to the one account. All the EXIF data should come with it if available on the original.

Suzanne - make sure you use at least five tags for your images including your name. A good place to find the best tags is: http://flickr.com/tags

Suzanne - ( trigger finger from last post ) you asked " What is the reason for images taken more from FAA, how that that relate to Flickr's type of attribution? '

I don't have an answer to that, other than I don't think you can click on FAA artwork posted on other websites and it come back to our gallery page, when someone does a right-click save on our artwork, as what happens with a Flcikr picture. Though I haven't tried it.

Interesting on the tags, I just did some images of NYC and the most common tag (newyork) I would not have guessed, thanks. A right click will send you to FAA, I wonder how many would know that?

Suzanne - to clarify - what I said is I don't think that will take you back to FAA. But I haven't tried it. But that IS what happens with a picture from Flickr and FAA should do the same, I think, if it doesn't.

I have been waffling on where to put my best pictures and hesitate to use Flickr due to its philosophy of sharing; it seems to discourage protection for one's work. Maybe I am just imagining it. I have combed the Internet wondering where to start with my photos, and I landed here on FAA. In reality, I am looking for a site that protects, promotes, allows sales, helps with networking, and that can be utilized as a portfolio of sorts. Flickr is not my choice.

T J - what you're looking for I think you found with FAA. Flickr platform is very similar to FAA but doesn't allow direct selling. Though it's TOS and protection of Copyright excels the rest by comparison. You have to do what is in your best interest and I thank you for considering Flcikr. Note: I don't work for them, though it may sound like it, I just live there.
