Average Pricing?

Where could I go to find what the average price for each size is? Does that data exist?

I'm new to this community and a little overwhelmed with pricing.

Hi Marlo, and welcome! That data doesn't exist as a list, as far as I know.

If you do a random search, you'll see that prices vary from incredibly cheap, to more expensive. I personally feel that some people are underpricing their work, but the good thing about FAA is that you are free to set your prices to whatever you feel buyers will pay, or to whatever you are happy to accept.

One way to get a feel for prices is to do a search for images similar to your own, and see what the competition is charging :-) Depending on the standard of the competition, it might be a good place to start. The FAA markup for sizes between 16" and 60" is around 40%, so just deduct that to get an idea of your price to set.

Also, if you do a search for say 'beach umbrella', you'll see starting prices between $17 and $73, but some of the sellers are not offering smaller sized prints, so obviously their starting prices will be higher.

Personally, I don't offer small prints - too easy to scan, and then claim a refund. I also price greeting cards high, to deter people buying them and putting them in a cheap frame to hang on their wall - and they still sell!

I can share - 10.15,20,30,4050,60,80110,150,190,230. One of the lowest prices. But I am not a good photograper, so my portfolio consist mostly from ddigital abstracts and there isnīt much buyers for them. So I have these low prices.

@Martin - have you tried selling your digital abstracts on other PoD sites outside of N America?

I've found that my images that get liked and sold elsewhere are often quite different to FAA. Might be worth a try. Also, all my sales on FAA have been to N America, which is probably due to the high cost of shipping worldwide. By having an outlet elsewhere you can maybe reduce the shipping costs for the buyers. Just a thought.

Edit: I've edited this post to remove the name of another PoD site, as I probably shouldn't mention it by name on a FAA forum. That's why the following post, from Martin C, doesn't make a lot of sense :-)

there is no average, just enter what you would like to get and make it fair. start low and work your way up. you can always adjust later.

i can tell you that i very rarely get anything back of any size, it's doubtful anyone is scanning in anything. and by not selling the smalls, your losing sales.
