Amazing Camera-phone Photos

I wish that Sean would allow images from Flickr to be used on InstaPrints instead of only Instagram. Maybe the new Flickr app. will change this??

as it is, when they had the instagram contest here, people were taking real photos with an SLR, then uploading them to their account and posting it as if their phone took it.

I will probably sell my Canon when I get the S5.

In all seriousness, phone cameras can capture great images but 1. The person behind the phone needs to know what they are doing. 2. There are some MAJOR limitations on when those great images can be shot and how large they will print.

I probably have a couple dozen cell phone shots in my portfolio. One of them sells on a regular basis too.

Good idea JC ... I might just make a gallery on my AW for iPad photos instead of waiting for Sean to allow Instaprints uploads from the Flickr app.

Yes, the photos at that link all used software after the shot, so you do need to know what you're doing.

Mike - I don't remember the Instagram contest but I do believe what you said about the photos posted. UGH!!

Also, on that gallery page in my OP there is a link about how to take better camera phone pictures. One of them is don't use the Instagram camera. You should check out the camera in the new Flickr app. 3.0 ....Stunning !!!

helps a LOT

Yes, and tripods are a lot lighter than twenty years ago ... but then again, so are the cameras.

This is just one of those gorilla grip things with a cell phone holder. Fits in my pocket.

Ahhh .... I've got to get one of those.

Hey, thinking what you said about selling your Canon and how processors in camera phones are getting better. Have you heard a rumor that Nikon might produce a DSLR that only shoots JPEG images?

I have not, but it wouldn't be a bad thing if aimed purely at the consumer/hobbyist market.

While I process starting with a jpeg more often than not, most pros wouldn’t touch a purely jpeg camera and for that matter, I WANT RAW capability myself for the times I need it.

You're welcome, Carol.

Here is a great article bout the new Flickr app ....and why I think it is still a platform for photography and photographers, compared to Instagram:

Some nice images in that selection.

On a recent trip to Iceland I found myself using my iPhone camera more than my dSLR. This was predominantly down to the weather, but the iPhone images (with a few tweaks) turned out quite well I think. I've finally managed to put some of them up here on FAA. Be interesting to see if any of them sell.

Thanks Vale and David. Hope you're playing with the app on your mobile device and not posting here like I am. I think if these got a boost on megapixel there might be little need for dSLR's ???!!
