prior to taking this photo recently, as I sat in the parlor of the grand victorian I had restored from 84 to 97. The very same room I would play my baby grand. Gene and Marie from Michigan purchased the home when it went on the market. They were both life time residents from Michigan and wanted a warmer place to live during the winter months and selected New Orleans and purchased the grand victorian. Marie lost her husband of over 65 years as I was visiting her to check in on her since she lost her husband. I kept looking up at the violin mounted in the case on the wall, listening I started to imagine, the sounds Gene her husband might have made, after hearing her story, I asked Marie would you mind if I take a photo of Gene's violin and she said Michael go right ahead.....I took this one and the wood beautiful as it is, silent created the music for me from this photo,.....listen hummmmmmm, hummmmmm, hummmmmmm. Gene's beautiful violin has given me an inspiration to learn to play the violin, I have always wanted to learn to play and plan to use Gene's Violin which remained silent for over 70 years at my very first violin recital and plan for Marie to be the guest of honor. Since hearing the story from Marie, I have often wondered why did this violin remain silent for 70 years.
