I have only found sites with .com and .net through searches. How does google sort all the other crazy add ons?

Crazy, Craig? I think there are already hundreds of nations out there with there own crazy add ons...

Remember when the .com boom started and firms were selling variants of domain names that you could later resell to make a lot of money off of? Wonder if anyone actually made any money buying those variants?

Yes Chuck, there is one who made money allright, the former owner of pixels.com....

i only use the .com .net and mostly the first one. there are so many extra words to choose from, but only if you find the link will someone click on it, they won't remember the extension. like when .XXX came out and there were these rancid commercials about how porn was going to move into your site and the customers will be so confused... i haven't seen any of those commercials, i would say that idea failed.

squatting on the name pixels.com isn't the same as calling it - mike.pixels

Nice gimmick by the domainer to make a buck. I fell for it with .com and .net and once had nine domain names. Now I have two.

FrankJCasellla.com goes to my AW and is my Brand. If I need to change from my artist website I wont lose my customer base, done it before a couple times.

And FrankCasella.com goes to my digital business card .... that has all my links that used to have those nine domains ( it also makes me "the" FrankCasella on the web and search). .

I got those offers too for .photography and .gallery and personally I think they are a waste of money. Most artists I find don't use a custom domain for website or email.

I resisted the urge to go with .photography just recently (but btw, I saw them advertising it on GoDaddy in case you're interested). Somehow I can just imagine people getting confused and adding .com after .photography as in peggycollins.photography.com.

Thanks Lutz, I registered one. I have 3 other domains but I really like the gallery option, now I can use paintedtulip.gallery - that will immediately let people know it's art related. then i can drop the paintedtulipstudio.com later that I was going to use for art stuff....because my paintedtulip.com is for my salon! lol. I think this will simplify things for me. whew...All because I have the business name Painted Tulip. I may register my name too later.

I already have .com .net .biz .info.

Nearly every time I send someone to .info or one of the others, they end up on .com, instead -- which is why I provide so many links on most of my sites. (FAA being the exception. If they get to my FAA/AW, which is .com, I don't want them to leave.)

I've found it very, very difficult to break the '.com' habit with users.

Lutz, let us know how .gallery works for you.
