Do I Upgrade Again?

I received a message to renew my premium membership today, which normally I would in a heartbeat..but having looked back the "Sales" I have made which boils down to 3 tiny prints on 05-31-2012 and 1 larger print 02-25-2013,which came to in total a grand total of $90.37 plus one that fell through because of the size issue which was cancelled recently,I am reluctant to for out $30 as my work will only ever result in small prints if that!
Yes I will lose my website but as nobody looks at that site,it's no biggy for me!

Do I throw good money after bad just to be informed that the "Quality" is below standard so can't get a large print out of the works on site.
My Son in Law is visiting later this month who he is a photographer and he will re-photograph all of the work so that large prints can be made on here, but until that time I am still in the position of spending money when prints can only be minimum sizes!
I can't afford to buy scanners and when it comes to photography I am worse than useless,so I think I have made my decision having written this to not bother to go Premium, delete most of the work and settle for a freebie until I feel sure that I can make this upgrade viable.

Maybe,I will leave it until I can get some decent sized images in my PF,and then consider Premium again in the future.

I am confused on two points, Cynthia:
1. Faa does not send out renewal notices. Your credt card on file is automatically billed. Do NOT click on a link from an e mail if one was provided!!
2. You spent $30, you were paid $90. How is that throwing good money after bad? You cleared $60 after your initial investment was made...twice what you paid in. I wish I could do that in the stock market in one year!

You are a good artist with work that should sell. You obviously have some minor quality issues that are easily surmounted as long as you have the originals. If you replace the current images with ones that are more technically right for reproduction you will be all set. If you take some down you will lose the comments and any juice you have built with the search engines here and off site. I think it would be wise to invest another $30 now rather than wait. Be positive!! Better days are coming!

Like Marlene, I don't see the problem. I'd renew in a heartbeat while at the same time working on file sizes. One doesn't not have to be mutually exclusive from the other. I'd also find an avatar that was in focus.

Cynthia, I love your work, please don't get discouraged yet. This site is well worth 30.00 a year just to remind you, you are an artist and have some wonderful paintings to present. Doesn't it feel really good to log in and see you're a part of an artist community with wonderful work to share, the sales will come… :-)

Cynthia, don't give up the membership you already have. No where else will you get this type of services and sales opportunities for only $30 yr. You have many wonderful paintings (a talent I don't have), besides the issues you have of photographing them. Having your son in law helping with photographing them will help some, but keywords and marketing is going to be the key to getting more sales. You have been a member for three years now and the sales you did received paid for those three years.

It sounds like renewal would be a good investment. Your work does sell even if it is smaller prints and it generated more that the $30 upgrade fee. I'm not sure what happens when images go from for sale to not for sale . They might drop in the rankings but even if someone does find one they want to buy they'll have to get in touch with you first and that may Berle work than they are willing to go through.

Cynthia: Well you made more than you invested that is great. Your paintings are cool, but i agree they need to be reshot because of the technical quality. And you said that it will be done this month. So no problem.

Marlene: automatically? wait, and how do I prevent it ? Do I need to close the account before that?

I think Sean stopped sending "renewal" notices a few years ago. Now, it's all automatic because he only accepts credit/debit cards that can be automatically deducted from when our premium service comes to an end.

That said - if the card you used is no longer valid and your membership fee is up for renewal, you might get one. I did after I closed out one CC account and forgot to enter my new card number to FAA. What happens in this scenario is that your account automatically reverts back to a regular FAA account and just the first 25 images you have up have pricing/are for sale... That is what happened to me.

@ Martin - You can't prevent it ... Yes, you would need to contact Sean/Customer Service and tell them you no longer want a premium membership. And... you probably need to do that at least a month BEFORE your renewal is up.
